Good luck tomorrow and don’t forget to bring enough water;)
I want tales of AG glory, beating your brother-in-law and all your old high school teammates.
I’m going to give it a go with the big boys at the Manchester Road Race.
Joining 13000 others at the buffalo turkey trot 8pm, the oldest continually run rAce in north American. Training has been garbage so I’m not expecting much, hopefully under 32:50. The front end is pretty competitive so I’ll be lucky to crack top 20 in my AG.
Tomorrow is today for me in Korea. I did our local Turkey Trot on a wager with someone else: he ran with a dog, and I ran wearing an M40 gas mask. The loser was to buy lunch for the winner next week. I think I’ll have Subway…
Did mine last Sunday because of family obligations this week. Won my AG and came in 8 th overall. No I still did not break 20:00 but I have a bag of excuses :0)
Did mine on Saturday, local 5k with about 1500 I believe or so. Anywho all I have to say is that I was humbled and put in my spot at mile 1. I hit the first mile at 5:30, which for me, is a bit above my abilities. Just as I pass the mile marker a little kid no older then maybe 13 y/o cruises right past me and I never saw him again. The rest of the race did not matter I just can’t believe kids can run that fast, or maybe I am just way behind in the game.
little fuckers haven’t been exposed to beer and loose women yet. Keeps them light.
Yeah, I get the turkey trots also. I’m going to my sister’s this year so I hope I can hold it until I get home. It’s embarrassing.
some local 5k at the ymca. 16:39. i didn’t run the actual course. i was out in front and some lady told me to go the wrong way(yeah, know the course but nothing was marked/no course map). i figured this out maybe a quarter/third of a mile later. glad i wore my garmin today so i just kept going until i hit the distance. maybe a couple hundred people there. not very formal at all.
Had to bail on my Turkey Trot today. I came down with a nasty head cold this week and jusy couldn’t do it. At times the sinus pain felt like my head going to explode.
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
Got spanked by my 9 year old in his second 5k…sooooo proud!
16:20 for the cross country style race in Tucson. Jumped hay bales, water stops, and an 8 year old kid that started further up than he should have. 4th place oa in a field of runners.
After looking at results, I was actually 5th. One guy was a full minute ahead of the rest of the field.
Gobbler 5K with friends and family in Nags Head on the Outer Banks - windy as heck!
Ran the first half mile with my daughters (10 and 7) before stretching out a bit. I think I managed to finish before everyone aged 10 and under!
Looking forward to the day that the kids can beat me, but I will NEVER let my wife beat me! ![]()
Ran in the 2k+ strong New Paltz turkey trot ( the entire town is only 8K people ). Came in right at 20 mins. Looking forward to doing it with my kids next year.
I have ate over 2 dozen chocolate chip cookies in the last 48 hours.
Prospect Park 5 miler with my 2 sons. I am fat, slow and out of shape and still beat them ![]()
Lifetime 5k in Phoenix, 28 min which after last nights happy hour isn’t bad.
Out last night, several old cross country teammates agreed to race, but they were a no-show, leaving me to get beat by two 16 year olds all by myself.
First real 5k racing as hard as I could, 18:20, which I’m really happy with. More important my Dad finished, way faster and easier than last year. Quality family event.
My son Caleb, 10 years old, just ran a 22:32 5k on a beautiful morning in Bend Oregon. The day is coming where I am not going to be able to keep up with him.
Ran in the 2k+ strong New Paltz turkey trot ( the entire town is only 8K people ). Came in right at 20 mins. Looking forward to doing it with my kids next year.
I was at the New Paltz race this morning also…are you sure there were over 2000 people running? I was guessing around 700 or 800, but didn’t really look all that closely. A bit cold at the start, but a lovely day here in the Hudson Valley, eh.
