Official Ironman AZ Slowtwitch Gathering Thread... who's coming?

It is finally time!

The Slowtwitch Gathering at Tribe Multisport is happening again, and we can’t be more excited about it! Last year was a blast so we’re doing all we can to make this year even better… and raise even more money for our local charity Not One More Foundation. Once again, we’re having financial advisor and fellow Slowtwitcher (one of the top age group triathletes in the country) Bryan Dunn co-sponsor this event. We’re hoping that whether you’re racing, volunteering, spectating, or just looking for a good time, you join us**.**
The event is planned for Friday, November 18th from 3-5pm at Tribe Multisport. The time should give participants ample time to make it to registration, the pro press conference, etc. and then allow you to get back to transition for the athlete dinner (store is about 6-7 miles from IM village). We’re planning on having free food, drinks, and some pretty kick ass raffle prizes (keep reading!).

As part of the ST gathering, I’ve once again arranged with a pretty deep list of pro’s so you can “See what the pro’s are riding”. About 14-16 pro triathletes (participating at IMAZ) will be at Tribe with their bikes as they’ll be racing them on Sunday. You’ll have an opportunity to check ‘em out, talk to the pro’s, take pictures, and get plenty of autographs. We’re very flattered and lucky that these pro’s have taken time out of their day to join us for the event.

Here’s the list of confirmed Pro’s:

  • Linsey Corbin (2nd Year)
  • Meredith Kessler (2nd Year)
  • Lewis Elliot
  • Ian Mikelson (2nd Year)
  • Jozsef Major (2nd Year)
  • Kevin Taddonio
  • Jackie Arendt
  • Sebastian Kienle
  • Jessica Smith
  • Kelly Williamson
  • Christian Nitschke
  • Chris Boudreaux
  • Donna Phelan (2nd Year)
  • Leanda Cave
  • Michi Weiss
  • Heather Wurtele (Maybe Trevor as well)
  • Erika Csomor (2nd Year)
  • Eneko Llanos & Dirk Bockel (unconfirmed)

As for the raffle, we’re very lucky to have some great partners that have donated some great prizes. Everyone in attendance will receive 1 raffle ticket with the option of buying extras. ALL MONEY RAISED via raffle tickets will be donated to the Not One More Cyclist Foundation. NOM is a local organization dedicated to ending cyclist-vehicle accidents on the roads that are unfortunately all too common. A huge thanks to** Shimano, Cannondale, SRAM, Reynolds, Nineteen, Scott, Vittoria NA, Speedplay, Louis Garneau, Profile Design, and ISM Saddles**.

Here’s a list of all of the Raffle Prizes… again thanks to all of our vendors who partnered with us!

  • Shimano Dura-Ace C50 Tubular Wheelset ($2,800 value)
  • Cannondale Slice Frameset ($2,200 value)
  • SRAM Quarq ($1,800)

Please RSVP so that we have an idea of how many people to expect, how many ST Gathering T-shirts to make, and also how many kegs to buy. Feel free to bring guests, our store is 9,000 sq ft so we should be able to accommodate everyone. Email (andres@tribemultisport.com) if you have any questions.

Outstanding lineup. Looking forward to it. Remind me to limit beers to two…or three.

Damian

I am going to stop by. Looking forward to doing some fun, laid back stuff while I am in town. Thanks for putting this on.

I will attend, it was fun last year.

Thanks for doing this Andres and Bryann. Not to mention all the pros and sponsors. It’d be criminal not to show up. Count me in.

I will be at the ART (Active Release Techniques) tent volunteering my hands to whom ever needs help with aches/pain prior to the race. I think 8-1 Th-F -SAT if anyone needs help.

Sophie

I’m in. Wouldn’t miss it.

I’m in, with a guest or 2

I’ll be there, too - great lineup. How many kegs can a gathering of triathletes kill 2 days before IMAZ? I’ll wager zero.

I will be there…but I just found out I (me, my dad and brother) were selected as the Ford Training Team winners, so I have a feeling we’ll be doing stuff for that at the same time.

I will be there…possibly +1or2

You’d think! though there’s quite a few triathletes that showed up last year that weren’t racing… Thanks for the RSVP!

Sounds like a great event!

I’ll be there +2 guests.

Thanks!!

I’ll be there with 2 other athletes and 4-6 family/freinds.

Yes, as I recall the beer was greatly diminished at the end!

I am there! Sounds great…

I’ll swing by, thanks for putting this together.

Andres,

I think your gathering/raffle at the Tribe store is great and looks like a lot of locals and some IM participants will have a good time.

I think from my opinion that your advertising is a bit deceptive … re: Official Ironman Arizona. You guys are a fine shop, but you have absolutely nothing to do with IMAZ … or if you do, I’ll be glad to offer you my apology. I think we all should support sponsors/ supporters of IMAZ during that race … just like we should support you guys at races you sponsor.

It would seem that a small disclaimer might make things more clear … at least from my perspective.

Dave

Andres,

Sounds like a great time. My wife and I will be there, coming from Ohio for the race. She will be racing and I will be sherpa for the day.

The title of the event is “Ironman Arizona SLOWTWITCH Gathering”. It’s a SLOWTWITCH party held during the time of Ironman Arizona. It has nothing to do with IMAZ, it has to do with SLOWTWITCH.
