Ok here goes… driving from the NC to CT for Xmas. Thinking of throwing the bike on the back of the car so I can use my trainer over the Xmas vacation. When is it to cold to cart your bike around on the back of your car? Maybe I am just thinking in to much detail - I don’t know. Thoughts?
Might wanna give it a windbreaker to cut down on the windchill ![]()
I would be worried about road salt and crap getting kicked up onto it.
I don’t think the cold, per say would have much impact. However, if the roads are snowy or itis snowing raining heavily, or there is a huge amount of salt on the road, then that would not be such a good thing for the bike - particularly on a rear mount rack. Dry roads and cold would be OK but couple that with the other messy stuff and it would not be that good for the bike.

Or, maybe, you aren’t thinking about it enough. Is there a temperature below which you wouldn’t ride your bike due to concerns about the bike?
I don’t think there’s a single thing just the cold will do to your bike.
road salt is a good point though - even that, a quick hose off solves all.

Oh, I wouldn’t say that!

Maybe 20°F.

I’ve ridden at ~15°F before without any problems.
take the wheels off and get it inside…I would not hang my bike out in the elements…
