Octomax / Quartermax pics

Here are the pics that I took at the race…

They aren’t that great (I really need to ride out to a flat spot on the bike course to get some good, aero action shots next time.) And, there are a few that are out of order (specifically - 710, 741 & 742) because I forgot to rotate them before uploading and Photobucket is a pain in the butt for moving/rearraging after uploading.

I’d recommend starting at the end of the album (or, the first if you’re going in numerical order) to see how the race(s) unfolded. With the delayed start of the Quartermax men’s race, the coverage of it is pretty squirrely, but…

Steve

Good pics.

I looked and can’t find results posted. Anyone?

Nice shots. I like shots 8 through 11, if you look in the background there is an older larger man either done on regrouping for the Octomax run. He doesn’t look to be in a hurry. This man is my future in about 15-20 years. My girls liked the picture of me getting up to run (“Daddy, you don’t look good, you look like you’re puking”; “No girls, that was a mile down the road”).

Is that the only pic I got of you? Unfortunately, with all the congestion due to the late start (and the fact that I forgot that you were racing - Sorry!), I wasn’t watching for you. There’s also a decent one of Mike on the run (right next to yours, I think).

Steve

Not worried. I’m more entertained by the fat old guy in the transition area hanging out. I’d like to believe he is thinking about to start the run leg and is regrouping casually.

Micks,
yippee! thanks! (#'s 103, 104 trisports kit)

Tim, results are up, but quartermax has finish times only, no splits :frowning:

AWESOME PICS!

Thanks so much for taking all of the photos. I would go so far as to say that they are better than the ones the professional photographers take. I really like how you got them up close whereas the pros usually take them from quite some distance.

The only problem with that closeness is that I realized I scowl a lot when I run! Geez, I looked at my finish picture you took and the one where I’m running through transition and I look just aweful. I’ve seen that I tend to smile when I’m on the bike but thanks for showing me that I need to cheer up a little on the run!

You got a lot of great shots of both Tony and I. I really appreciate it. Thanks again!

Nikki

Glad you like them. I sent Tony the “originals”, which should be a little higher resolution. I’m just glad you guys had to rack your bikes and change shoes or I never would have been able to get from the bike entrance to the run exit in time to get you at both places. (I put it on my schedule as an interval workout.

I would have liked to have gotten better bike pics of both of you, but there are so many people moving through there at the same time, it was tough to see who was coming. (I almost missed you completely coming out of T1.) Next time I’m going to ride out to a flat section on the actual course and get some aero action shots.

I actually told you that Tony was only a few minutes ahead of you on the run and that you needed to run him down. You were pretty focused at that point, though, so I’m not sure you caught that.

Great race, BTW.

Steve

Full results (overall and age grou) with splits are up at www.ultramaxtri.com.

Yeah, I heard you say that but I was thinking in my head… my god, I’m hurting so bad that just finishing would be nice right now… much less run faster than Tony. The only time that I could run faster than him was after his accident. As you can see, he’s recovered nicely since and can once again kick my a@%!

Steve great pics! Between you and my wife I got some great shots to add to my file of tri photos, although both of you made my excellent flying dismount look like nothing! She got me just standing on the pedal and you got me in such a way that I look like I am walking my bike! The shot of me mounting my bike is hilarious! Thanks for taking those shots and I am sorry we did not get a chance to meet.
