I have heard that to use an Octolink Ergomo with power cranks you need some kind of modifiaction? How do you need to modify them or is the part needed available?
The Octalink Ergomo (current ones; not the original recalled version) has a stud sticking out of the spindle and a nut is used to hold the cranks in place (this differs from a typical bb which uses a bolt to secure the cranks). This different design means that you need the older “Model 3” Powercrank securing mechanism. The newer and current “Model 4” PC securing mechanism won’t work.
This was the end result of an e-mail exchange, including sending Frank photos of the Ergomo so he understood what it looked like, last December. At the time, Frank had some older Model 3’s at a reduced price. He also commented that it would be possible to put the Model 3 mechanism into the current Model 4 cranks before shipping them.
I’m sure Frank would remember the discussions if you were to remind him. Or PM me and I’ll send you the relavent parts of the e-mail exchange.
Hope this helps.
