Jesus H fucking christ will this asshat sit down and STFU already.
The market is already getting killed today, we don’t need Soetoro, or whatever the fuck he calls himself these days to send it even lower with his babbling, pro tax, socialist, commi, fuckstain, douchtard proposal to tax the living piss out of everything that fucking moves.
We get it dude, you want to tax the rich–as if we expected anything else to come out of your pie hole.
Don’t you get it? His plan is pure genius. He’s going to kick-start the economy by taking from the upper middle-class and giving to the entitled. They will then invest that money in things other than the usual of beer, cigarettes and lotto tickets. This time, they’ll start new companies. They’ll buy manufacturing equipment and hire people with all the money that used to sit in the hands of small business owners.
I’m sure he’ll have to divert some money to the unions and green energy companies, but there will be plenty to go around. Won’t there?
Close but no medal. His plan is to shift the negative focus onto the rich. It’s another great political move. Who doesn’t hate the rich? Even the rich hate each other.
He needs to tell everyone that he intends to tax the rich because Warren Buffet feels bad about not paying enough in taxes. I’m sure he will get in at least one PASS THE BILL NOW!! but since it is an official presidential speech instead of a campaign event he won’t get political.
By the way, when he screams pass the bill now is he targeting the Senate leadership who don’t seem to be in a hurry?

I disagree about it being a “great” political move. It is definitely a political move - but not a great one. I think he’s appealing to people who depend on him already for handouts. He might make them love him more, but I think he loses the independents who see it for what it is - something creating more division and hurting the economy.

It is indeed a colossally stupid tactic. Who is advising him? He is bleeding independents and veers further left? In what universe does this work?
To most it just looks like he is grasping for straws and has come up with a plan because it’s “something”, and that’s better than nothing which is what he should be doing. Neither he nor his administration have a clue on what should be done to help the economy and nation.

I don’t know. It’s just re-hashing his already well known position on the subject. So it’s hard to even call it a “move”. It’s his job to push his agenda, not to instantly start with something the Republicans on the Super Committee will agree with 100%. So he’s got to start with something. Of course it isn’t going to fly in the House as-is, but tons of polls have shown the majority of people support it (cue the “of course lazy moochers want to steal my hard earned money” argument). The GOP will come up with their plan that is equally hated by the left, and then if if a divine miracle happens we might end up with something in the middle that’s reasonable.
Personally, I think it’s time for him to revisit his own deficit committee. No, not the Super Committee. You know that thing he publicized and hyped up then completely ignored ? I wasn’t a big fan of the result either at the time, but it was far better than anything Obama or Ryan/Boehner/Cantor have spit out since, that’s for damn sure. Many of the reasons why I didn’t like it, and I assume Obama didn’t like it, are going to appeal to the GOP (overhauled tax code, slightly more regressive system).
To me it shows that he really has no grasp of, or concern for, the impact of what he’s doing to the nation/economy. I think the man is simply over his head. I would hate to think that he doesn’t care if he kills the economy as long as he gets his agenda in.
I’m sure in 10 years I’ll look back and say he wasn’t as bad as I think he is. I did that with Bill Clinton. But Clinton was a bit more competent.

Agree mostly, but don’t you mean “slightly less progressive system”, and my understanding is that the restructuring would mean effective tax rates that are more progressive than currently. ie if Buffet is mostly at cap gain rate of 15 %, and you drop his regular rate from 30 to 24, then tax all his income at that rate, it’s a big tax increase for him. The problem is the pubs probably will not pass it in that form, and even Obamahas said that you don’t raise taxes on the guys at the top when the economy is in hurting status…nevertheless, here he is doing just that. Ultimately though, I think he could make good progress with many in the middle if he would take up the fight for Simpson-Bowles and champion it for the next few months.
ps. with the tack he is taking, I’m starting to believe, like Glen Beck, that Obama does not want to fix the problem…that’s scary…somebody talk me off the ledge.
If you’re going to overhaul the tax system/structure, why not just fix it then. I’m really leaning toward ending all of the itemized deductions (e.g. mortgage interest) and level loading the tax structure from there. Or, am I just naive?

Tend to agree, but we’re probably crazy to think DC pols would end a system that gives them so much power to choose winners/losers and extract payoffs from favored constituencies. Think how much easier, cheaper, and straight-forward it would be to monitor compliance.

Why it works in the LR universe…everyday there is a thread bashing either the Christian candidate or the Mormon candidate. Basically this group says if its Perry or Romney they will vote for Obama again.

The lefty Salon thinks it's political, and a good political move at that:
Of course, this makes me ask the question: is there anything that a politician does that isn’t a “political move”?
Obama proposes same shit he has for the last 3 years? Political move.
Boehner says NO NEW TAXES? Political move.
Cantor helps old lady across the street? Political move.
Harry Reid has a heart attack on the Senate floor after indulging in too many all-you-can-eat buffets in his home state? Political move.
