Obama is starting to get shrill. From the beginning he has made it clear he expects to get his way, from his "I won" statement to those across the aisle, to more recent reminders of the same and the mandate he believes the voters gave him. Did voters give Obama a mandate for change, a blank check to do things his way, and should the pubs step out of the way, at least, and let him get along with his (okay, in this case Pelosi's) vision?

Isn’t that what happened in the House? Problem is that public opinion is waay down on the plan as it left the House. The Pres has problems with his own party in the Senate without bothering with the Reps. Have any Reps threatened filibuster if they don’t get there way? I have not heard it. Instead the Pres is trying to get Reps on board, quite different.
Did voters give Obama a mandate for change, a blank check to do things his way,
Sure. In precisely the same way that GWB had a mandate with about the same winning percentage. That is, do it your own way, but when it blows up, you are screwed. Oh wait, that is only if you are a Rep.

So much for promise of bipartisanship by Obama. I guess his definition of bipartisanship is my way is the only one only way. Obama has been on the job for 3 weeks and his true colors are already shinning through.
He is such a crybaby…so let me get this straight. There is a bill that represents just about 1 TRILLION bucks and he is frustrated that after the details come out the opposition is suggesting something different.
A couple of comments…
One, Obama has never led anything in his life - his behaviour proves this, it sucks at the top. Refresh my memory, has he ever led any legislation in the State or as a Senator? Wait, I forgot, didn’t he lead the law reveiw at Harvard…
Two, what was he thinking just letting the dems in the house just create the bill - He should have come up with some guidelines.
Three, he is so full of sh!t - whining, they left us with the debt…give me a break - look in the mirror of your collegues and you will see who helped created the problem.
Four, he does not need but two votes in the Senate, if he can’t twist two arms on the pub side, then that just shows how weak he is.
Five, what is he going to do when we try to tackle something really hard, like SSI or another terror attack.
And to think, we are only 2.5 weeks in…could be an interesting 4 years.

Are you sure? Gallup reported on Wednesday that 52% are in favor of the $800 billion stimulus, to 38% against. Those numbers haven’t changed since the question was asked January 6…before Obama took office. See link:
Fifty-one percent of those questioned in a CBS News poll released Thursday evening approved of the stimulus package. That’s down 12 points from a poll taken January 11-15, the last time CBS asked the question. **Thirty-nine percent opposed the plan, up 15 points **from the previous poll, taken before President Barack Obama was inaugurated and before the House of Representatives passed an $819 billion stimulus package, with no Republican support, on January 28.
Interesting. Gallup and CBS report pretty much identical numbers, 51-52% in favor, 38-39% opposed. Gallup says the numbers haven’t changed, CBS says they have.
Obama is a p#$$y, if he really believes he has a mandate and if he really believe this is the change we want, he wouldn’t give a flip about what the pubs think and he wouldn’t give a damn about what public opinion is…yet your guys that support him bash us instead.
Barry calls me Mr. Hannity (which made me giggle), yet doesn’t address the fact the Obama has no balls…he just about has Libermen in his pocket all he has to do is throw some pork at just one moderate republican (which there are serveral to choose from) - as our last President used to say “Get er done”

And if it did as you say, you’d be bitching about that. Seriously, I could just turn on Hannity or Rush and wouldn’t hear any different.

First, I support a bi-partisan compromise bill. I don’t like the crap that the house inserted into the bill, but I have hopes that the final product will reflect a little more sanity. I think that’s what Obama has asked for all along.
Maybe he should. The tax breaks that the Reps are pushing for will merely give more money away to people who don’t need it. It won’t stimulate the economy or create jobs in the least. It is more of the failed trickle down BS that has gutted our middle class and ruined the economy in the last 30 years.
There's two sides to that argument, but this is more about whether the pubs should say, "we tried our way and it did those things rruff says, let's let Obama give a shot".
I guess even if they stood back and just did not vote either way, it still would not be a "bi-partisan" bill, and dems would decry that. That would be a secondary question, if the pubs just get out of the way, should the dems shut up about bipartisanship and just take the gift?

2 thoughts come to mind…
A tax break doesn’t give money away to people…it allows people to keep more of the money that they earned.

Who the hell are you, or anyone else to determine that working Americans, who are paying taxes don’t need any more money? The incredible… no, make that the unimaginable arrogance that it takes to even type a sentence like that simply staggers the mind of anyone who believes in any kind of entrepreneurial freedom and opportunity.
