So a guy in my office who listens to talk radio said he heard on the radio that Obama was sending troops to Africa to assist the Muslims in a fight against a Christian group. I didn’t hear this, but if someone is really spinning this action this way… I just don’t know what to say…
Certainly a myopic view, but you could probably make a technical case for accuracy, while it obfuscates the larger issue. Not sure where I'd fall on a decision like this, and the admin does not seem to want to trumpet putting boots on the ground in Africa, as evinced by a Friday afternoon release of the facts. The LRA looks to be murderous scum of the highest order, but I've seldom seen groups fighting each other in Africa that did not both engage in atrocities. Looks like the move has some bipartisan support, and that's a good thing, but we've seen how quickly our guys can get caught in the thick of things and get mired down or require an expansion of operations. Not comforted by Obama's words on any of it either, as his Libya assurances of our involvement being "days not weeks" was many months ago.
This is why atheists scratch their heads and say about religion:
“What the Fuck?”
Mans inhumanity towards his fellow man is as old as mankind. But since mankind has invented religion, more cruelty has been done in the name of God to his fellow men than before Man ever had a concept of God.
But since God blesses mankind with brains and creativity they are also ‘blessed’ with the ability to distort and hi-jack the peaceful message of the religion regardless of the religion.
Of slaying ones enemies it has been said (and put in to action) that the more of your gods enemies you kill, the closer you become to your god…or become a god yourself
Mojo is knowledgeable about this phenonenon.
I think Obama does not want a Rwanda under his watch while he has the ability to take action against a potential slaughter. If you have to take out a few hundred maniac Christians to save a few hundred thousand Muslims, there aint nothing wrong with that.
I agree with Mojo.
No, i wasnt lobotomized his afternoon.

The LRA is really not about religion though. It is a crackpot trying to overthrow the Uganda government. History is full of people, religious and not, who have done crazy things, often distorting religion to suit their own purposes.
But since mankind has invented religion, more cruelty has been done in the name of God to his fellow men than before Man ever had a concept of God.
Man would be just as cruel without religion. Pol Pot was not religious but had a warped sense of what he thought a utopian society should be and then tried to carry out that ideal. If it wasn’t religion the fighting would be over power, money, land, resources etc. Religion is just a scapegoat when the real problem is it is man that is fucked up.

No one can doubt that.

The LRA and its followers are definitely not Christian. They are really about overthrowing a government, anything else is a smokescreen.
Aren’t the Ugandans the ones who have been doing the heavy lifting in Somalia against the Islamists there? Therefore, we shore up our Ugandan proxy by whacking the guys that want to overthrow it and bring said proxy further into our good graces. (Plus, as far as I know we’ve been funding the Ugandans’ involvement with the African Union peacekeepers in Somalia.)
So in a somewhat abstract way, it is about God.
The UN's AU peacekeepers have committed their share of rape and child rapes. Got to make us feel warm and fuzzy to be contributing so much to this "work".
I agree with Mojo.
I am Honored to have your agreement.

They say that they are Christians…obviously not very Christ-like…
Advancing a cause to draw attention to the cause typically needs a ‘banner’ under which to operate. Something the masses can identify with. This man might not be “Christian” at all, but uses the banner…
Do you understand what I am talking about?
When I see someone in the dark, in need of help I suggest they might want to get to know Jesus and the best place to start is reading and understanding The Twenty-Third Psalm.
If they don’t care to pay attention, I’m like “Whatever Dude…” I tried to do the Lords work…
There’s no need for me to badger them further, insult them or threaten violence for not accepting My God. I’ll argue with athiests all day long because I believe in God. At the same time I only believe in the peaceful tenets of my religion as they are the word of God to me.
The violent tenets of religions are all man-made and I think any God would find this behavior offensive.
