Obama batting 1000

**Fannie/Freddie were put into conservatorship in Sept, 2008 during the Bush administration. **

But, but, it was because they knew Obama was going to be President, and um, they wanted to help him out, and um…did you hear that they are raising the terror threat…

Democrats - getting things done

Dr. Frankenstein got a thing done, too.

Yes, there were terror alerts…but then again, there was no christmas bomber, no times square bomber, no ft. hood.

Perhaps the terror alerts were warranted? Who knows what the feds prevented. I’d take that any day than sitting around pretending everything is alright and hoping that the next wanna-be terrorist is a stupid and unsuccessful as the last two.

?? The Republicans had control of the house from 1995-2006, encompassing fully 3/4 of the Bush administration.

The Senate was 50/50 with Cheney being the tie-breaker for 2001-2002, and then Republican from 2003-2007. They had 55 seats from 2005-2007.

Let me rephrase, such an overwhelming majority.

Obama;

2009-2011 Dems/rep
House 257-178, a 79 seat majority
Senate 57-41 with at one point a 60/40 super majority.

Bush
House Rep
2001-2003 212/221, a 9 seat majority
2003-2005 205/229, a 24 seat majority
2005-2007 202/232, a 30 seat majority
2007-2009 No majority

Senate
2001-2003 Switched from a 50/50 to 50/49 minority to a 50/48 majority but with two “Other party” members.
2003-2005 48/51 with one independent
2005-2007 55/44 with one independent.
2007-2009 49/49 with one “Independent Dem” and one independent.

So best case scenario would have been 2005-2007 where there was a 30 seat majority in the house an 10-11 majority in the senate versus Obama’s 79 seat in the house and 18-20 seat in the senate.

One would have a hard time calling the years 2001-2005 & 2007-2009 any “Majority” as it was mostly tied in the senate and relatively minor majority in the house.

Frankly I’m not complaining and think it should always be that way. Until this country and it’s “Leaders” pulls it’s head out of it’s ass and wakes up the less that get’s passed the better.

That’s funny, usually you get all excited when the stock market goes up with Obama in office. How’s it doing these days, BTW?

But I do have to give the administration credit for catching that right-wing Christian tea-bagger Limbaugh-spouting Faisal Shahzad.

wow, helluva research assignment!

wow, helluva research assignment!

Not really HOUSE, SENATE.

The government has done all the work for me

Agree that Obama is being pretty successful at getting his agenda implemented. Sadly, this admin has chosen to do so at the cost of the country, and continues to ignore the realities around them, preferring to make their "imprint" on our culture in the biggest way possible. Carter had similar circumstances to deal with, and while his personal preferences were close to as far left as Obama, chose to act in (what he saw as) the best interests of the country, rather than work on his place in history. I believe that ultimately Obama will not be seen as nearly as good a president as Carter...and that's saying something.

Sadly, this admin has chosen to do so at the cost of the country,

Given the fact that his agenda items have only recently passed through, can you give me a specific example of which of the items have cost the country so quickly.

It doesn’t count if you think something is going to cost the country, but I’m sure you have specific examples to share.

Unless the Health Care reforms that were passed are free…then it’s pretty easy to imagine the $1T+ dollars it’s going to cost us is going to hurt - for the simple reason that we don’t have $1T+ dollars to spend.

So, whether or not the money is already out of pocket - we are on the hook for it.

then it’s pretty easy to imagine

Particularly if you are Republican.

If his policies turn out to be the end of American civilization as we know it, then the critics will have a point but to continually slam him for things that have not actually happened make the criticisms more political than anything else.

I think there are a number of things to criticize Obama for at this stage (not reaching out to Republicans, increasing troops in Afghanistan, waffling on Guantanamo) to name a few but for some to say he is destroying the country because of his passed agenda despite their being no evidence of any such thing, just weakens the strength of the legitimate arguments against him.

Seriously? You don’t think Obama’s spending, and spending commitments, are having an effect on the economy…right now?

**It includes, securing the border, sanctioning employers who hire undocumented labor, the detention and removal of those convicted of certain crimes, **

It does indeed sound like a good beginning (of course your unwillingness to define illegal acts as such is telling). If employers are going to be sanctioned for hiring illegals, is that true on day one? If so, the problem will, for the most part, solve itself because most illegals are here for economic reasons. How does your proposed solution deal with illegal aliens currently in the country who will be barred from employment because employers will be sanctioned?

I see your point, but the passed agenda comes with a price tag, and that price tag is what has a lot on the right worried.

He was able to help General Motors a company that cannot turn a profit pay off a loan in a matter of months…
.

GM TARP loans were “repaid” with other TARP funds in a Treasury escrow account. The TARP loans were not repaid from money GM is earning selling cars, as GM and the Administration have claimed in their speeches, press releases and television commercials. When these criticisms were put to GM’s Vice Chairman Stephen Girsky he admitted that the criticisms were valid

yea that post was supposed to be in pink
.

Thanks for clarifying. I was going to respond once I picked my jaw up off the floor. I had to do a double take and make sure the response wasn’t from the Lorax or YaHey

sorry, I had to jump on that assertion because it epitomizes bullshit and the reason I wont be driving anything from GM. Pink would have been a nice touch.

Gonna file this one away for future analysis. 16 months into a presidency is a bad time to accurately gauge the historical success/failure of a presidential term. Regarding his motivations, he continues to work on issues that he ran on. There’s not a single surprising action that he has taken.
