I have a few pairs of real Oakleys and quite a few fakes. I wear the fake ones during training and races and the real ones everywhere else. The fake ones last 6-12 months for me and I just keep a few laying around. Plus if something happens (crash, accident) I am not stressed about ruining a good pair of glasses too.

My real Oakleys are heavier than the fake ones, that is the only thing I notice when I am wearing them.

“Faux-kleys?” where did you hear that??? I thought I made that word up about 4 years ago, at the Berlin (NJ) Flea Market.

Synchronicity Now!!!

I bought a pair of Oakley skiing goggles at the outlet location of St. Bernhard Sports in Dallas, TX at a 30% discount - about three weeks ago. I think, they also had regular Oakley sunglasses on display in their outlet warehouse. Maybe it’s worth a phone call…

Tom, do you have a model number/style for the precription Oakley’s? For the record I’m nearsighted. I got a pair from Performance last year but they’re weird, everything viewed is very skinny and very tall. They make hills more intimidating than they should be. Either they messed up the prescription or else the frame doesn’t allow for enough curvature of the prescription lens.

If you visit Oakley’s website they have an entire section devoted to their “Rx” prescription program. In addition to those frames and lenses, there are others that can be made to your prescription also- available through an authorized Oakley Rx optometric dealer.

I have been racing in the new Oakley Half Jacket XLJ prescription glasses and have a bunch of different casual glasses to cultivate any look you want- mad professor, lawyerman, intelligencia-nerd, terminator/Mossad assasin- whatever look you are going for.

whatever look you are going for.
Generally lucid is good for me. Thanks for the info.

I’m another die-hard Oakley user here. I think the best retailers are the “Oakley Rx” dealers. This is because any person working at this store must not only meet the education on eyeglasses/sunglasses but they also know how the frame is to set on your face. This being said, it is good to check out on of these stores and get an opinion on what best fits your face since this is important in any sporting event. You don’t want your glasses bouncing around while you run.

Personally, I was looking into getting an Oakley Jacket about 6 months ago. Actually, it was the Splice. After going to my Rx dealer, he switched me over to another Jacket, the Valve, which had a much much better fit. You don’t get that at Sunglass Hut do-ya? Just some food for thought.
