Has anyone who is currently using the Oakley Radar noticed chipping paint on the nosebridge when they try to changes lenses. I have a pair of White Pearl and Black and both are experiencing this issue. I could and probably will send them to Oakley for a warranty claim, but this is very curious to me and I am wondering if I am the only one.
Other than this issue, they are simply awesome glasses.
send them back, seen it happen sometimes on other full metal frames and I can see how it might happen on the nosebridge area on there. love my radars! Lucky, you got the killer pearl white. I wanted those but my sponsor talked me into the metallic red which are super cool anyways but…
My red Radars haven’t done this, but then I haven’t changed lenses. No one in northern Colorado has extra lenses yet. Where did you get your extra lenses?
I have a pair of black ones and a pair of white ones, so I was swapping the lense between the two because, as Tai said, the White ones look pretty pimp…Ok, yeah, I jsut used the word pimp, but they do look cool.
I am going to talk to Oakley today to see what they say. When I swapped lenses over the weekend I pretty much took a few chcunks of paint off the nosebridge, so I doubt some nailpolish will make it look better.
Well, they aren’t all white. The color is called “White Chrome” and had a bit of pearl coloring to it…To get them, I simply ordered them from the REI website.
I talked to Oakley and they said that it “hasn’t been a problem that they’ve noticed,” but that’s on CS person talking. So, they said I could send them back and get a warratny claim, but it would be 3-4 weeks trunaround time. GIven that I am leaving for Europe in a few days I might hang onto the White Chromes until I get back.
Does anyone here have any connections at Oakley? Tai? I am wondering if they might be planning to offer any other polarized lenses for the Radar other than the black iridium or the bronze. A nice grey or amber polarized, as they do for the M frame, would be really, really nice.
sure they will eventually although they usually stick to the greys and brown tints for polarized as most of the lighter specialty lens tints probably won’t be used much around water or super glare type environments. Also since the lighter lenses are usually used in mid-light or lower situations where it’s usually ambient light versus direct light, polarized probably wouldn’t offer any benefit at all over a standard lens. I wouldn’t be surprised if a darker amber drops into the line soon as it’s available in a lot of other glasses. I’ll see if I can check but not sure when I’ll find out or if my contact will even know.
