Need cheapish clean accomadations near host hotel or transition/ central park area. Best I can find is marriott residence inn times square. Any other ideas that is closer?
My inlaws stayed at the Newton on Broadway in the mid-90s last year when they visited. Closer to transition than Times Square and avoids the stupidity of that part of town. Nothing fancy but reasonably priced and clean.
There is a Clarion I believe around 95th and Broadway. Close to swim start (I lived around there and didn’t bother going down to transition in the morning) and only an easy 2 mile ride from transition.
I would avoid Times Sq/Midtown at all costs, but that’s just me. And this should be much cheaper.
Thanks guys I will check into them. One thing I have to do is check out the Bedbub reprts too. Though i guess pretty much they all had them or people who wanted to try to get a free stay claimed they had them. A quick search even had the host hotel with bedbug reports. Really dont want to bring anything other then a lame goodie bag home with me :o)
I did the Hilton at 1335 Ave of America’s last year. Very close to host hotel and close enough to the finish line. NOT very close to transition. I’d recommend not staying near the host hotel and trying to stay on the West side near transition or swim start. Traffic was a nightmare last year trying to get to T1.
That advise is if your only reason is to go to the race. The Hilton (or any Marriott) in that area is great “base” to see the city.
