NYC triathletes...how's your 2015 race calendar shaping up?

Tri-state area peeps- which races are you looking at for 2015? Any good local races recommendations? So far I have IMMD lined up and was unlucky in the NYC tri lottery. Would love to hear how people around here arrange their seasons. Thanks!

Escape the Cape - mid-June in Cape May (I think it’s sold out though)
I actually got in the NYC triathlon for the first time but sadly I have a wedding that weekend and think I can’t go :frowning:
I traveled to TriRock Philly last year and might do it again - great race
Thought I would try prospect park duathlon in May

I’d like to do a 70.3 or two but haven’t been able to sort out my schedule yet.

(I live in Manhattan)

Philadelphia (Sprint), NYC, Atlantic City (International)
.

American Zofingen Long course du
Black bear tri Oly
Rev3 Quassy Half
NJ State Tri Oly
IMMT (not local but driveable)
.

Would also recommend Mighty Montauk. I did it a couple years ago and it was easy to get to, find accommodation and race.

The possibles list includes:
Jerseyman, Anthracite, Princeton 70.3, Wilkes Barre, West Point, Gran Fondo NJ, Randolph Tri, crits and TTs on a “game day” decision basis.

Syracuse 70.3
Vineman 70.3 3 weeks later (first race i’m flying to, was a tough call given the expenses, but my sister lives in Bay Area and is doing it too along with some friends and should be an awesome race)
NYC Tri the following weekend. Sorry to hear you didnt get in. I also heard the HarryMan triathlon in May is a nice close race. They have olympic and half distances

Going to be a very busy June and July!

Local races I’m doing for sure:

AZ DU
Tri-Ridgefield
Rev 3 Quassy
West Point
Toga Du

Other local potentials that are fun:
Spring dual (New Paltz)
Boo Du (long Island)

Great race in the area that I’m not doing but HIGHLY recommend.
Toughman
Westchester tri.

Not local, but great races I’m doing:

Fly-by-Night, Delta Lake

I need to find a few more, so I’ll also take suggestions. Preferably short course so my son can play too.

So far only the NYC Tri. I got in !! It’ll be my first time doing it since 2010.
After that, nothing. I am coming back from a bad bike crash that happened this past July. They found a brain tumor during the CT scan, so, that happens next week.
I have a deferral from the 2014 Mighty Hamptons, so that may still happen in sept. I also might do Westchester if I can hold up.

The HarryMan is a great starter for the season. It’s tough as hell but a great day.

Amzof in May, Hits Kingston full in July, hopefully the Escarpment run end of July and then SOS in September, all pretty close to the city
.

thanks for all the input, looking at all these. Anyone done the Challenge Poconos? Was thinking of that for pre-IMMD tune up.

The Rat Snake of course! FREE Heady Topper, pig roast, on site accommodations, $25. Is there really a decision???

There are a couple of nice Toughman options in the area - September 13 is the NYC-area race which is also the championship for the series. I’m planning on being there and looking forward to visiting the NYC area for my first time!

Another option would be the Toughman Tupper Lake Tinman on June 27. Race that for a chance to qualify for the championship!

Rev3 Quassy Half
IM70.3 Princeton

So far that’s all I’m planning on.

Rev3 Quassy Half Relay(Swim & Run)
Challenge AC Half
Smith Point Sprint
IMMT (Spectating, did it this year)
Toughman Westchester
.

If your looking for an early, challenging half marathon I highly recommend the Hook Mountain Half at Rockland Lake - about 25 miles north on NYC.

That leads nicely to Harryman and or AmZof. Either combo buts some serious hay in the barn for the rest of your season.

I’m going with the Battenkill/Hook/Amzof tri-fecta. Sure is nice not having to leave the state for great racing.

If you’re looking for a short trip full of upstate NY scenery, the Baseball Hall of Fame, Brewery Ommegang as a sponsor plus a nice, local, early season sprint triathlon, I’d recommend the Cooperstown Triathlon on May 31 of this year. I should admit I’m biased as I am the RD, but we’d love to have a nice NYC representation for this spring race. We typically get a pretty nice draw from the downstate area. Total driving time 3.5 hours.

Visit www.atcendurance.com for more information and we hope to see you there!

First race season living on Long Island instead of Adirondacks. Very sad to be gone but now there are a ton of races to choose from. Got into NYC tri, going to work the Challenge circuit (Quassy, Poconos, Maine), and will probably goof around with an absurd number of local races on Long Island. Probably go to Florida early spring and late fall as usual (family there makes racing easy logistically)

so far

CAC - full
NJ State - Olympic
IMMOO
IMLOU

looking for a tuneup for CAC. cant decide since they moved quassy one week later this year.

Battenkill & Boston same weekend
NJ state Olympic
West Point or Age Group Nats, I really want that saber
70.3 Worlds (Austria)
Late season IM tbd
