NYC tri wisdom

Has anyone done NYC? What to do you think ? It’s seems pretty cool. 300 entry for Olympic , yikes. Does it sell out ? Is it nessary to enter lottery ?
Thank you in advance ,
Just wondering , who doesn’t like posting on st!

yes, it sells out. lottery is the only way in unless you buy the champions club package which is $500 or so. the champions club does allow you to bypass the lottery the next year and enter at the regular outrageous fee.

worth it? you’ll probably PR because of the fast swim. bike is crazy crowded and sometimes dangerous (depends on your wave, if you’re in one of the first waves, not so bad, if you’re in a later wave, you should incorporate “on your left” into your training rides). i do the race almost every year because transition is a mile from where i live so “all in costs” aren’t so bad for me.

if i was traveling, I’d perhaps do it once, but probably leave it at that. the race probably doesn’t deserve as bad a rap as it has in these parts, but it’s not the triathlon version of the NYC Marathon.

BTW, you might want to work on your punctuation and spacing. it’s all cool to be casual, but you might start giving people migraines with your use of commas, spaces, etc.

Thank you for the input on the race. Your right about the punctuation. I have been told that by others as we’ll. it’s time to listen I suppose. I’m just not much for texting and shorten my sentences .
Cheers.

The bike is crowded and the run is a little hilly and hot. With that said I really enjoyed it. Running through central park with all the crowd support was awesome. $300 is steep for a OLY but I entered the first responders category again for next year.

It’s an expensive event, entry, hotels, cabs, etc. The swim is fast and murky. The bike is crowded and sometimes wet. The central park run is a bit hilly. It’s either rains or is extremely hot, sometimes both. All of that being said, there’s a certain allure of doing an oly in NYC. Lots of race support with volunteers and spectators cheering.

I’d say it’s a bucket list event, try to do it once, they make a fun weekend out of it with the underwear run and doggy dash etc. Not the same as NYC marathon week, but still fun.
