Heavy rains have dirtied the water apparently
It did rain like a motherf*cker up there on Wednesday.
That would be THURSDAY. Monsooned yesterday (aka Thursday) like you read about.
My parents live on Long Island and say they got the worst of the storm on Wednesday. There was actually a tornado in Suffolk County I believe.
THere was a lot of rain earlier in the week, the problem is that when it rains a lot in the city, the water sewage treatment plant overflows from so much water. THis means that sewer water and household waste water overflow into the hudson river! They have these rumors of the swim being cancelled every year, because it always rains a lot up here in July. THe hudson is very tidal however, and it probably cleans out any dirty water in about a day or two.
