NYC pools, on a budget; possible?

I’m in NYC through the first of March and am desperately looking for an economical pool with semi-flexible hours. I’ve been going to Riverbank ($2, woo-hoo), but making it during their brief hours is difficult. I’ve been searching the internet and calling around but everything seems to be in the $25-$50 range for a day pass (which is a little steep for my budget). Are there any pools in the $10 range that have more flexible hours than Riverbank? Thanks!

Check out the Vanderbilt YMCA in Midtown. I think it’s on East 47th. It may be an option.

Yeah, a big budget. Do the Asphalt Green membership for pool only. Why do people keep asking about NYC pools and not consider this option?

It would cost you $75 total to join the city gyms, it’s a year-long membership. There are several pools throughout the city. (Chelsea, West Village, way east 23rd St., a few others…) If you’re here for a month, and swim a few times a week, it might be worth it if you are willing to spend the money. (As opposed to 10/25 per day!)

the best way is probably a city parks pass You may want to talk to individual YMCAs and see what they can do for you. some are really nice especially if you go to a Y in your home town.

You may want to check out Ballys on West 50th at World Wide Plaza. It isn’t the cleanest place, but it’s a 25 meter pool and you may be able to get a free guest pass for a few weeks.

And oh…people don’t always recommend Asphalt Green because a) It’s on the expensive side and b) pool schedules

NYC Parks and Rec is the most economical and several locations:
