NYC Marathon Lottery Results

Are posted at noon today on the www.ingnycmarathon.com website…

I’m not really sure if I want to get in or not…honestly.

My wife really wants to do it. So for the second year in a row, we’ve both entered. Last year we both got turned down. It was my 5th rejection spread out over the past 10-12 years or so.

The goal is for us both to get in and I get to play her sherpa.

My fear is that I alone get in…then I’ll actually have to train! Heavens…

They’re up now…I got denied for the second year in a row.

Bob

I’m in, if you check the entrant data base, it will say accepted or not, they are an hour early with the lottery results.

Not in. But they do take qualifying times. For an old man like me (40+), I need a 1:30 Half. Anyone have experience with qualifying times in NY? Is it easy or a paperwork disaster? Thanks

It’s too late to get in through a qualifying time (May 1 cut off date). But if you have the qualifying time it’s easy to do it that way…

We’re both denied…again.

I’m relieved. She’s gonna be bummed.

Sherpa it is!

No NY for me this year. I’m bummed.

Yeah, me too…Looks like Philly for me two weeks later, which is actually probably a better idea after Chicago on Oct 7…Well, not really, I’m bummed, this is NYC afterall.

Sorry Amy, that sucks.

I’m wondering what the record is for rejections. This is my 6th. If I didn’t already have one, I’d be starting to get a complex…

Is the rule three rejections in a row and you get to run or is it two in a row and you get in?

Bob

Three consecutive rejections…then you’re in the 4th year.

Great. So, there’s a chance I’ll feel like I do right now, only next year. Lovely. Oh well…

At least now I can break out all of my wretched Rocky quotes and finally have the chance to put the words “Italian Stallion” (Though I am not Italian) on my shirt. It’s good to get that stuff out of your system.

Bob

Where did you get the name, “The Italian Stallion”?

**“**Oh I made that up one night while I was eating dinner.”

You’re right. I feel better already!

Denied. I think this was my third year in a row, so next year I’ll see you in NYC.

When people ask me what I did for dinner the night before the race I’m simply going to reply “I ate lighting and today I am going to crap thunder all over my fellow competitors.”
.

Denied, but my wife got in.

Hmm, that should make some interesting conversation tonight at dinner…

1:30 shouldn’t be a big problem for a man 40+. I ran my first half marathon when I was 48 - Manhattan Half in the Central Park last January under 1:27, got my entry and ran NYC Marathon 2006. I already have my spot in NYC Marathon 2007. If you can’t make qualifying time, but live close to NYC, then another option is to become a member of NY Road Runner’s club and accumulate 9 qualifying race. My son got his 2007 entry this way. It’s too late to claim ‘qualifying’ entries for the 2007, but doable for 2008. In both cases application is easy.
