Nutrition/fruit as a source of calories

In the interest of trying to lose another 5-10 pounds, I am looking for advice about healthy snacks. I hover around 175, but know my performance would improve if I dropped some more.

Given the amount I train (marathons, 1/2 IM’s) I am surprised I do not drop more. I do eat well, but it seems I am always hungry.

I eat a lot of fruit, and I wonder about the sugar calories.

What are some good snacks, low in calories but provide some energy for workouts.

I hate to break the news to 'ya, but a calorie is a unit of energy (I believe 1 calorie is needed to raise the temp of 1 gram of water 1 degree C at 0 ATM) . So, foods “low in calories but provide energy for workouts” is a bit of a challenge.

Some carbs are “burned” more quickly though and other more slowly. Eating fruit is always a good idea though over refined or man made stuff. It is jut hard to carry peaches and bananas when out for 100 miles, so Gu packets work pretty well

I want to market a cycling jersey that, instead of big pockets, has a ton of banana sized pockets across the back. I truly think bananas are the world’s perfect cycling food.

I HATED bananas, HATED them… until I bonked at mile 80 of a century ride in the 100 degree heat and ate a banana at a rest stop. From that day forward, I have been a convert. My house is always well stocked with the little potassium filled wonders!

Why, I have no idea what you’re talking about!

That pretty much describes my relationship with bananas to a T. I eat them, but I don’t particularly care for them most of the time.
