So I have been riding quite a bit more as of late since I stopped running for a while.Anyway I have been getting numb pretty fast in the balls/taint area. This numbness seems to coincide with my feet going numb at about the same time. Just my middle 3 toes.
I have read many things on what changes to make, but what should I do first?
- Change Saddle
- Change shoes
- Lower seat height
- get position checked by the shop
All of these things seem to be possible fixes for this issue, but I don’t want to do all of them at once!!
Number 4 would seem to cover the other 3 if they know what they’re doing…
You’re not supposed to sit on your balls. Maybe move them out of the way? Or get an adamo.
you are probably right about that.
I don’t sit on my balls, I try to sit back on the saddle a little bit and on the sit bones, but the balls still get numb. I seem to find myself sliding forward on the saddle as the ride progresses, once I realize it the numbness has already set in.
We are talking about a tri bike/aero position right?
Pedal harder to get weight off your taint
Saddle may well be too high
Try shaving your balls, painting them blue and covering them with a thin film of lubricant. Let us know how that works out.
The whole position thing involves so many interrelated factors it’s probably worth having someone who knows what they’re doing look at it. Or just post a pic!
Hey Numb Balls! Yes, I’m talking to you!
no aero position, this is the road bike
do you really think painting them blue will help?
Hey Numb Balls! Yes, I’m talking to you!
this is no joking matter, my junk tingles and stuff. i’m not hip to that
hmmm…I’ve always found the aero position more problematic. Having a decent fitter look at you still sounds like the eay to go. Did you used to be ok with this bike/position? Might be too many miles too soon if you’ve been off the bike for ages.
painting them blue will definitely help. they’ll shrink out of the way in shame.

Well I have never really put that many miles on the bike yet as it is only a year old, and I didn’t ride much yet this year. I think I will head into the shop soon and see what they think.
I was getting numb dick until I switched to a saddle with a cutout. Have you tried that?
I have a blackwell flow on the other bike, perhaps I should switch it to the road bike and see if it helps.
Ride less, and work on your tan more?
sounds like a plan. try some hot cream or bengay to fix the numbness for now
I had a lot of trouble earlier this season with numb nuts. Actually, it wasn’t my balls, but my penis that was going numb. I tried numerous saddles and positions, but the only one that worked for me was the Adamo. Other cut-out saddles didn’t work.
As for your toe numbness, you may need a medetarsal (sp?) pad. Sometimes you’ll have toe/foot numbness when the forefoot is being constantly pushed flat. Apparently it affects a nerve. Next time you get numb toes try crunching your toes together and raising your foot inside the shoe. If that helps the numbness it’s a sign that you would benefit from a medetarsal pad. It’s just a little raised pad that goes in your shoe and you hardly feel it.
my tan is good this year. totally sexy. the chicks are going crazy over me
thanks jason, good first post.
thanks jason, good first post.
No problem.
This is more serious than I realized though. If you are super tanned and the chicks are going crazy for you then you have to get that numb nuts issue fixed pronto. They’ll only be impressed by the tan for so long.
Good luck.
Post pictures, including blow-ups of the problem areas… then we’ll talk.
Try the numbballs… they’re delicious.
Actually, the Adamo seat has been a godsend for me in many areas and my balls are two of those areas.
no need for “blow ups” normal size would be sufficient.
