Now This Is My Kind Of EBay Triathlete Sale ;-)

Gotta give her credit for inventiveness:

T.

Try doing an ebay search for “Body Advertising”
Lots of fun.

I think it’s pretty cool…why not do it??? How many times have you gone to a triathlon and seen various temp-tattoos all over peoples bodies for one company or another?? Go for it I say!!

www.ironm4n.blogspot.com

Go for it - as long as the product is something that does not offend you - why not! You see the pro’s wearing sponsor logo’s - why not a top age-grouper. Z

I thought it was awsome.

I found it in no way offensive. Amusing. Creative. Potentially semi-lucrative. To me, if it’s done with a sense of humor by both sides then it’s fine and dandy.

Did you receive any legit offers?

What were some of the “advertising slogans?”

why is there a shippping charge? does she send you her body?

“I woke up in the morning totally ashamed & ended the auction”

Damn!!! I just bought a six-pack of Sharpies, too.

May I make a suggestion, of skipping ebay, and just trying it here?
I’d hope everyone here would be more respectful.

Certainly nothing to be ashamed of. Your husband is right. Start the auction again and post the link here so the rest of us forum wackos can bid.

I looked at the auction and I think it is clever marketing for a number of reasons. First off, E-Bay sends press releases about unusual auctions to all the major news agencies. If this had somehow made it onto CNN.com’s weekly story about unusual auctions it is likely she would have done very well with this.

Secondly, the woman is trying. Good for her. She has a sense that she has a saleable product (advertising through sports marketing) and that she is a marketable personality.

I say, good thinking. This is basically what the NASCAR, Formula 1 and other athletes are doing. Well done.

As for the negative comments people may have made, well, the internet makes the world a very small place and that includes ill-spirited people or people who want to ruin someone’s initiative. I feel bad for people like that, but I don’t give their comments any credence. When you put yourself out there, you expose yourself to hurtful and ill-intentioned comments from mean people. That is a shame. It’s very mean.

How do you finish better than first?

Better than first in age group/ 4th overall. Thanks, Im feeling better now about it all now.er…yeah, I got it. I was just funning. I don’t see what in the world you have to feel bad about. Looks like you could get plenty of sponsors just here on Slowtwitch.

When I saw the auction my respose was “wow, what a nice looking lady(kinda looks like my wife!). I’d sponsor her.”

Nothing shameful about this at all. I admire your innovation.

This guy’s comments were totally uncalled for. He’s a jerk. Don’t let it bother you.

Whoever sent that response is blind (and offensive). You look great. I say go for it.

I’m sorry, but he couldn’t be more wrong.
Five bucks says it was actually probably a jealous fat lady.

Hmm…didn’t know Brian Wagner was still around.

Anyway - if you’re not tough enough to take all and everything that comes your way - you’re not tough enough to post an ad that might elicit the same on ebay. You were probably smart to pull it. If just one email gives you such pause, you saved yourself a lot of worry and headache.

Yeah, he’s out of line, etc. Yada. Yada.

But, what’s shocking to me is that no one has yet suggested you post your pics to the “Hottie Thread,” where they clearly belong.
