Based on comments to these sorts of stories at least some of his base does believe he isn’t a incompetent bullshitter. Although I would say most adopt a whataboutism tactic rather than defend whatever the latest evidence of his ineptness is.

As stated in the posted article, the cables reflect honest assessment and are the standard fare work product of any ambassador of any country. If the UK PM was not up for election, I am pretty sure there would have been no leak of cables. They serve only to influence that outcome. IMO.

Trump is an Anglophile. This is a last parting shot at May IMO. At the end of the day the special relationship will endure whether it is four or eight years of strain (unless Trump is reelected and Corbyn becomes PM)
