(Now returned) wedding ring at Friday's IMOO Gatorade Swim

Hi ST,

On Friday morning, I checked a bag at the Gatorade practice swim at IMWI. The bag number was #653. I came out of the water at approximately 10:15-10:20am and my bag was gone. The bag contained a Gatorade water bottle. The bottle contained two rings, a tungston wedding ring and a gold engagement ring. If you or someone you know accidently picked up this bag, I would really appreciate hearing from you. You can feel free to keep the empty water bottle  Thanks, and good luck to all competitors tomorrow.

OMGosh I’m sorry to hear that. Good luck tomorrow at the race and hoping you get your rings back!

Someone returned my rings to the IMWI lost and found. My husband picked them up when I was on the bike and suprirsed me with them going into T2. If you or someone you know was the person who returned them, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!

That rocks, and is more proof that all in all we are a good bunch who can trust each other to do the right thing more often than not.

And there are still good people in this world not looking for a kickback for doing the right thing. Very happy for you

Fantastic news!

Awesome
.

I was so happy on Saturday when I talked to the Lost and Found table and they told me that you got your ring back. I am the guy (Ryan) from the swim and Kansas/Branson booth that was trying to help you. Sorry I wasn’t anymore help…but glad everything worked out. You were very calm and polite considering the circumstances…not everyone is always that easy to help.
So glad to hear you got it back!

Glad you got your rings back, but seriously, what thought went into let me leave my expensive and sentimentally important jewelry in a plastic bag in a water bottle with a complete stranger? Seriously.

Always has to be a hater in the crowd…

Not hating. Just trying to understand what goes through someones mind, in a situation like that.

It’s a fair question, and it wouldn’t have been my first choice of places to put them. I always take off my rings before swimming, and in this case, I forgot. What went through my head? The fact that this was my first IM, I was nervous about the swim, and I didn’t want to give up this chance to get a feel for the water. I figured the gear check would be a safer bet than leaving them on. I didn’t like any of the choices, but I made the choice I made.

Thanks goes out to Ryan for helping me with this. You really went out of your way.

same thing we think when we put our multi-thousand dollar bike against a tree with out a lock and go swim. Or me leaving my fixie an Tracys $6k mtn bike on the side of the road while we run up and down a 1/4 mile section cheering folks up a hill. We were not in a ghetto, we were in Madison - surrounded by folks that we now know once again we can trust.

So basically you are saying you aren’t thinking.

Glad the rings were found and returned to you.

That makes two times this year we have returned lost items from the Gatorade morning swims to athletes. In Lake Placid, a young lady put her diamond ear rings into the gatorade bag at the check in. When she got her bag back the ear rings were not in the bag. We racked the sand after the bag check was over and FOUND both of the ear rings. She was very happy to get that call.

Hope you had a great race in Madison! Z

PS. Ryan, the guy who helped you out is a great person and was very concerned about your loss.

2x on being glad u got your rings back and there are honest people.
