Note To Self: Don't Cuss Cold Weather During Winter Marathon Training

What’s the temperature where you guys are?

Down here, its about 93-94, with a heat index of what feels like 412. This heat is coming back way too fast, way too high.

Snakes are darting out from the weeds into the running and bike paths. Sweat bees, wasps, horseflies and all kinds of angry social insects are stinging people. What air the runner or biker does get to breath down here is about 35% loaded with pollen and dandelion thingies. Down at the running path and bike path, I’ve actually seen people start to run only to take about six steps and stop, then wave their hands and head back to their cars, saying “Screw It.” A telling sign that this is bad is when you run by other runners or run with someone else, and nobody is saying anything. You are afraid to talk to waste one ounce of energy. All you can think is, “man I wish I was out here by myself, because I’d turn around right here at this stop sign.”

And don’t the San Diego people have it hard?
