Note to RD's

If you are using green bouy’s as guide bouys. Please do not have half the athletes in green swim caps. It just doesn’t work lol.

Grant,
Well done young man!
It appears you have won your age group at Lifetime.

Nice bike split!!

Thanks a bunch, It was a pretty decent race. I was more happy with overall then age group because i was 229th overall last year and went down to 18th for this year.

I hammered the hell out of the bike which probably hurt my run a bit. That was the first time i got back into T2 and had absolutly no one from my age group on the bike racks it was a pretty cool feeling.

When are you racing next?

Grant

Door County next weekend and then Pigman.
I haven’t race since Des Moines so I’m feeling a little “pent up” at the moment.

Congratulations on your win today. I finished 26th in my age group for the short course, and 157th overall. I was pretty happy with that
for my first Triathlon, but definitely could use your help to improve my bike split.

Good job, don’t get too frustrated with the bike today it was windy as hell on that course. At least when i was out on the bike course and i don’t think it slowed down any because i felt like i was running into the wind on like the whole run course.

I just looked at your splits its good that you don’t have a real weakness at least thats what it looks like. You can tell were i suck. mine were like 79th swim, 9th bike, then like 136th run, its obvious what i am awful at.

Im really not sure how to teach TTing on a bike. I can just feel where i should be and thats how hard i go. Which is part of my problem on the run is i can’t feel it goes a lot slower then i want. The best advice i can give is to bike like theres not a run and train like there is. If you are doing short races, i’d do quite a few bricks maybe a couple a week with just a 10 min run, because if your legs aren’t warmed up in about a 1/2 mile in a sprint your’ almost a 1/3 of the way through the race.

It was very windy on the bike today, especially on the first half of the course. Even the swim was really choppy
after I made turn. I ran two H3’s today because I didn’t think it was going to be that windy, especially on a well
protected course like that. If I had more wheel options, running a disc today would have been smarter. As you
mentioned, it still comes down the putting in the hours on the bike. My travel schedule gets in the way of
my bike training, and it definitely showed today. What was your set-up today?

I ran 999’s. I had 808’s last year, but quite honestly there isn’t much of a point in a tri, i haven’t had any issues on climbs or anything like that. I forgot how bumpy that course is though. THey need to repave the whole thing i was bouncing all over the place. BUt the most dangerous part was that stupid cobblestone area right before one of the turns.
