Not to make any of you PowerCrankers feel inferior or anything but

Andrew got a report from Rick Kattouff (who started on the PC’s on labor day) that he did 4 hours on the Computrainer with his PC’s and never dipped below 27 mph for the 4 hours. He then got off and did a 7 mile run. A few hours later, when he didn’t feel properly tired, he went back out for another 10 mile run.

Maybe doing 20+ hours of spin classes a week using PowerCranks does have its benefits.

If only he could learn how to swim!

Frank,

I have powercranks and could easily do them for 4 hours at 27+miles per hour with the wattage on 50…if my ass could take it. What was his wattage??? Honestly, I like you and like your product. Sometimes your posts really hurt your credibility.

Andy

Sounds like Rick is going to be a contender this year
.

“Sometimes”. Ha, you’re funny.

Hi Frank,

Could you please re-title this thread correctly?

I cordially suggest the following:

“There are no PC threads on the first 2 pages of ST, so I pulled something new out of my ass…”

.

Yet another testimonial eh Frank.

Didn’t realize it was share-your-PC-workout day until just now.

I went almost as long as Rick-the-brick.

Duration: 3:36:58
Work: 2555 kJ
TSS: 201 (.746)
Norm Power: 235
Distance: 53.4
Total Gain: 7838’ (in between 3200’ and 6900’)
And for the REAL attention grabber…
Avg. MPH: 14.8!!!

For the record, I say to hell with the CompuTrainer data.

I’ve never used a computrainer, but I really hope that the resistance is not the same as on my cyclops fluid2. Getting above 20 on my machine is a real challenge. I’d be happy to try the challenge if someone were to give me a computrainer. Come on all, you know you want to!!

To follow Sojourner:
2 hours on PC on Cycleops Fluid2
245 av watts
63 av cadence
16.7 av speed
32.8 miles (I don’t know why the av speed and total distance don’t match up).

I’m closing in on 1500 miles for the year. 80 of them have been outside. That’s lame.

CompuTrainers are magnetic trainers, so the resistance doesn’t increase exponentially like fluid trainers. As an earlier poster said, the wattage could have been <100W for those 4 hours if the turbo isn’t calibrated properly. Unless this guy is a pro athlete, 27mph for 4hours is baloney. Like PCs.

Brian286,

Good question. Its not likely that it is Andrew Coggan since that is who Andy likely is by the tone of his post.

Just a very educated guess.

If your ass could take it??? I am pretty sure that this guy had removed the seat prior to the 4 hour trainer ride.

Bad guess…

Sorry, could you repeat that in a grammatically valid sentence? It makes no sense. Andy is obviously not Andy Coggan. Just look at the language used. No way Andy C!

And when you say “just a very educated guess”. LOL. You guys talk almost as much b/s as Frank Day.

I know three people who’ve been training on powercranks over winter. Still waiting for the miracle to happen.

I’m calling bullshi–.

Frank, I kind of agree with Andy…what was the wattage. In any event, even if it was on 50W, keeping the legs turning for 4 hour without the hipflexors blowing regardless of speed is a great feat.

In South Park, Colorado, a post such as yours would subject the poster to a charge of shenanagins. I hope all readers realize that Rick Kattouf is a class act, as well as an awesome athlete, and had nothing to do with said shenanagins.

I am impressed when anyone can ride a trainer for 4 hours at any speed non-stop. My ass can’t do it. I don’t know the wattage but I assume he was simulating riding and not in ergo mode. If you can do 4 hours at 50 watts my hat is off to you also although I am not so sure it is worthy of special mention.

The purpose of the post was simply to put forth what I thought was an amazing transition on the cranks, somewhat similar to ttn’s 100 mile ride on day three, to those many ST’ers who are right now struggling with this transition. I thought it might give them hope or a challenge. I am not sure what it has to do with my credibility.

Imagine my surprise! A post from Frank Day containing some outlandiish data concerning Poer Cranks! Man, you just never know what you’ll find here.
Frank

Frank SHOULD have written:

“The purpose of the post was simply to start yet another PC argument because everytime there’s such an argument, my sales go up. I am not sure what it has to do with my credibility…”
