It was bound to happen sooner or later. Decided do get a quick 15 in during my lunch hour. Was following one of my regular routes. I was in the shoulder going about 20 mph, when I veered too far right, front tire slipped off the road onto some gravel, and down I went. Came down hard on my left hip and rolled a few feet. Elbows and knees are chewed up pretty good. Bike (04 Cdale R3000) is mechanically fine. Cosmetically, some scratches and a ding on the top tube. Oh well, I guess it could’ve been worse. Two cars stopped and asked if I was ok. So that was nice…
Sorry, just needed to sound off while I sit here in my office in pain and think about how careless I was…grrrrr…
How big is the ding? Give your frame a good checkout, you may want to take it to the LBS for a once over. I had a similar accident last year and ended up having some more damage that I initially found myself.
I recently had a similar post after having crashed my brand new LS Blade. I was initially more worried about my bike and the fact that it was no longer “pristine.” Over the next few days after thinking about it and getting feedback from my fellow ST’ers I realized how lucky I was that I got up and walked away with the primary injuries being some road rash and a brusied ego. I now look at it as though I got it out of the way and I’m not due to crash for another 5 years. Good Luck.
