Norway Vacation Help

I will be visting Norway May 21 - 31 for vacation, and looking for any tips or suggestions. We plan on being in Osolo for 2 days and then heading out to see the fjords, possible hiking and Pulpit Rock in the Stavanger Region. We bought the LP guide book and thinking about taking the Norway in a Nutshell Tour, which, includes a little bit of everything to be covered in 3 days or so…

Any suggestions or tips are welcome

I recommend doing this while in Norway…http://www.vimeo.com/1778399

I posted the the same a questions a month or two ago. Visiting Norway in May 16-27. It sounds like your trip will be a lot like ours: fly into Oslo, check out the city, take the train to Bergen, then head up to Stavenger, do some hiking, etc. I refuse to stand (or let my wife) on Pulpit Rock, that is just crazy!! Basically, stretch out the nutshell trip suggestions.

Are you planning on renting a car or just taking the train/bus? We are on the fence as a car can be a big hassle but, would allow us to get some of the smaller towns/off-beat places. (apparently gas is about $7 US/gallon!!).

Do you plan on doing any training while there (this is ST after all)??

Tri2112, I am doing Florida 70.3 on May 17 (we live in South Florida), and depart to Norway on May 21, so mostly taking in the sights and chillin no training but I plan on hiking as much as possible.

We are not planning on renting a car, mostly using trains and buses.

Right now we are looking at Stavanger to see pulpit rock, then to Bergen, then Alesund to see Geirangerfjord, and if possible Jotunheimen National Park to hike, but not sure if there will still be snow in the higher trails to hike. I think some of this is part of the Norway in a Nutshell, so we will use that as our transportation.

Still research online different options

As a Norwegian married to an American and living in the US I have some input.
You will find good information about Norway from Rick Steves http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/destinations/scan/scan_menu.htm
You cannot go wrong with the Norway in a nutshell. Everything is expensive; if you do not like it don’t go
Let your interests decide what you will do. Just remember that it still can be some snow in the mountains.
Just let me know if you have any specific questions.
I am going to Norway first week of May to visit family and friends, but I will not do any tourist stuff
