Has anybody done this race race in Beverly MA? Just wondering what its like.
I did it last year, my first time. It’s at one of the nicest locations you will find for a triathlon. The swim is pretty unique, you swim out and around a huge boat/ship and then back to the beach. A few things about the swim, the water can be very cold, and last year it was extremely choppy. You also have to deal with a decent tide. I got disoriented coming around the boat because I couldn’t sight where to aim, and actually started swimming in the complete wrong direction until someone on board pointed me home. I heard a few veterans remarking that it was the most difficult and choppy swim they had done. The bike was windy and rolling hills but a pretty nice ride. The run is an out and back with a few small hills along the ocean. Really fun race but pretty small and low key. If you have any specific questions, let me know. I’m not doing it this year because I did Cranberry last weekend and am really burned out on Oly distance. Honestly, the venue is great and an awesome place to bring the family.
