North American IRONMAN Pro Series Racing Kicks Off With a Bang in Oceanside

Kingma now no longer on start list (was #F6) -

No whisper on why the withdrawal, ‘personal reasons’ or otherwise. But she has no contract to race Oceanside.

I’ll stop following her now: she’ll be gutted.

Eric mentioned on TTL podcast a new bike on show at Oceanside. A new paint job on a normal shiv presumably rather than a new shiv?

Very likely just Paula’s new paint job. Specialized no longer makes a tri-specific bike. Findlay not a big enough name to launch a new time trial bike.

Episode 1 of IM Pro Series docuseries (sic):

Hey folks, sorry if I missed it somewhere above, but is there live coverage of the race this year? Youtube? Outside TV?
Edit - NM, I see it is on Outside TV.

Ironman are offering live coverage of every IM Pro Series event (as in 2024). This did not include 70.3 Geelong a fortnight ago, however, for unreliable reasons.

You can use a VPN to watch on Youtube without the endless annoying outside ads

I did though go in person to see this interview, some lionel puns in there:

Skipper out due to illness, not that he would have factored, but has to suck to make the trip and DNS.

No coaching change.

Is it true the swim may be cancelled or shortened due to cold? That sucks for those faster swimmers.

I cannot imagine that is true, it is a salt water wetsuit swim and the air temps should be warm. It is springtime here so the very coldest that water could be would be high 50’s, usually low 60 to mid 60’s this time of year.

When I google harbour temps today it’s not in the 60s, 57f which is below 14c right?
