I am interested in Norseman for 2015.
It looks like they have approx. 100 slots for non-Norwegians, out of ~300 total slots (there are specific slots reserved for elite, media, sponsor, etc).
Does anyone know anything about the odds of a lottery slot? (Or other opportunities for an entry?)
If he doesn’t end up replying then send a PM to Halvard.
Ok, thnx, good idea.

Usually you will have 250 athletes on the ferry. In my year it was just 235 due to some athletes dropped out in the last minute.
Here you have the link to the information from the Norseman organization. http://nxtri.com/race_info/faq_norseman_2015
Lat year around 2,000 signed up for a spot so you will need some luck.
But sign up. Hopefully you will be luck and have the triathlon experience of a life time.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
I am from Austria and was lucky in 2012. But it was a special year marking the 10th anniversary, with two races on Saturday and Sunday and thus doubling the slots. I think around 1400 people registered for the lottery and roughly 500 raced.
Just register and see what happens.
All – many thanks for the feedback. I will enter the lottery and hope for some luck!

There are other opportunities. Be “fast”, or more specific; be “fast enough” to be in the elite selection. 15 spots for the mens; a <9.30 time in the last 2 years ought to do it. Or be a great (insert other endurance sport here, preferably X-country skiing).
Win Celtman/Swissman ( i know, im pushing it
They get a slot.
Be associated with one of the main sponsors. Last year some guy started for Skinfit on a weeks notice, and i talked too one of the green shirters this year who told me (IIRC) that he got in via Craft and via one of the corporate sponsors in recent years.
Enter one of the side lotteries/competitions. Brands like BlueSeventy (http://www.blueseventy.com/blogs/stories/8320229-us-norseman-winner-three-weeks-to-go) do this.
The NM organisation itself gave away a slot to a “special athlete”, wasn’t that you Halvard? So have a good story.
And finally you can become part of the organisation and race the “Crew-Race”, a few weeks before the actual race.
In any form, best of luck. I raced it twice and it was worth every penny, ache, sweat-, and blooddrop.
