Normalized Power question

So I’m pretty new to the whole power thing.

Just got a computrainer, so plan to use that as I train over the winter, and then get power on my bike by the time the weather breaks in the spring.

When I ride in ERG mode on Compu trainer, Avg power and NP is identical right?
When I ride a course there should be a difference. I have found there is almost none. Is there a setting that isn’t correct. If I ride 90 min at 220 avg, it will show an NP within +/- .5 of that, just doesn’t seem right. Any thoughts?
The only setting I can find that I’m unsure of is AeT. I had it set same as FTP, I guess it should be more like highest Z1 Lowest Z2. Is that right? Is that the problem?
If your power output doesn’t vary much, then AP and NP will not differ by much. If your power output varies through the ride, then AP and NP will diverge. How much they diverge depends mostly on how variable the power it, and especially how many and how long you sustain higher power efforts, although it’s not exclusively related to variability as there is a temporal filter applied as part of the NP algorithm.

AeT or FTP setting has nothing to do with calculation of either AP or NP.
