I have a new ride, and am looking to get FIST’ed. Can anyone recommend a good shop in the north California area (ideally within about a 100 miles of Sacramento)? I’d prefer not to drive into SF itself (hate traffic), but will if absolutely necessary. And yep, I know we have a ST database of retailers. I’m not looking for just a list of who can FIST, I’m looking for specific feedback on various shops, such as Forward Motion, Davis Wheelworks, etc. Thanks!
I HIGHLY recommend Davis Wheelworks. I just got my first tri bike there like 5 weeks ago. Joe, the owner, fit me on about 5 different bikes (Cervelo, Kuota, Scott, 2 Felts) on the trainer and I was able to take 3 or 4 them out around Davis to try out. I spent somewhere around 6 hours there that day just getting fitted. I ended up choosing the Felt B16 because I preferred the color scheme over the other higher end Felts, but Joe suggested substituting higher end components for some of the ones that came on the standard bike and so I did that. And so once the bike was all built, spent another couple hours getting my bike in the proper position. It was a great experience. I definitely recommend them. Plus, they’ve got a lot of bikes just to look at.
If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me.
I second the recommendation of Joe at Davis WW. I’ve worked w/him on two bikes (one TT & one road) over 3 yrs. w/great success. Most of my training partners use him too. He’s thorough, patient and capable!
Check out PKRacing.com Chris is a great fitter.
Can’t say enough good things about Joe and the rest of the staff at Wheelworks. Left my wife’s bike there with them today and they’re the only people I would trust for high-end stuff.
He will take his time with you in meticulous detail, which is why he’s able to charge what he does.
Davis WW is great. Joe is a major part of the cycling community in the valley.
X4 for Joe at Davis Wheelworks, great guy, spends a ton of time making sure that it is spot on.
