NOOB question.... socks?

Socks or no socks on the bike leg?

For me, it depends on race length and weather. Most races up to and including half IM, I will skip the socks on the bike. For cooler temps and IM, socks are considered but not always worn. You should also consider if you plan on peeing while riding, do you want to ride around with a piss soaked sock?

Living in AZ, I don’t think I’ve worn socks since March.

I have yet to try the no-sock approach. I pre-roll them so that they’ll go on like tights and massacred the field at T1 a couple of weeks ago. I don’t feel socks detract much from the transition.

Socks?..What socks?

I haven’t worn socks racing or training since my first tri season in 1991.

No socks here.

No socks on the bike. ANd also on the run if the shoes fit right (and have the right material in the collar).

I know, I know… everyone has their shoe (I’m currently training in NB 1061’s)… but just out of nothing but curiosity… what shoe do you train/race in?

Race in Nike Waffle Racer III’s, no socks, train in either the same, Nike Air Max 360’s (with socks), or most recently NB 790’s (working on no-socks with those).

No socks bike, ever, and no socks run up to 1/2 IM in Mizuno Wave Creations.

Always socks on the run, usually on the bike. I will blister every time if I don’t run in socks and it’s just as easy for me to get them on in T1 as it is in T2.

For anything up to a 1/2 IM - not socks…

yes on socks. i always wear socks

Another vote for never on the bike and only on the run if it is a 1/2 or longer.

always socks for me. hardly ever anything less than a half though.

Nope, but I do slip them on quickly for the run. It takes no more than 4 seconds and keeps the blisters away, which would cost a lot more than 4 seconds.

I run in Nike MayFly’s and Ascis Ohanas. Though I’ve been sockless for 16 years for biking and running, with these shoes it was sockless without a problem right out of the box.

Socks always on bike and run. I detest blisters ever since I got some humdingers that got infected 3 weeks before a marathon . You do what makes you most comfortable and provides peace of mind against friction in your cycling/running shoes.

No socks ever here on the bike, on the run anything over 8 miles i usually wear socks…Same Nike Waffle Racers as Brider for training and racing, love them!

No socks above 45F.

No socks on sprints or oly. Socks on the run only for 1/2 IM and IM
