Non aerowheels vs only aerofrontweel (which should i ride tommorow)

I’m doing a oly and a sprint this weekend, but i don’t know which wheel setup i should use.
I ruined my disc last weekend and it is still at my lbs. so now i can ride my clincher trainingswheels or with a clincher backwheel and my blackwell 100mm up front. Will the blackwell upfront save a lot of time (<60+ sec) or only a couple of seconds (in that case i’ll save the tire for the “IM” race i’m doing next week).

thanks

you want to ride a 100mm up front and a box rim at the back?? i don’t know anybody in the world who would dare ride like that. you will end up trashing your front wheel as well for sure.

because of the wind?? i don’t know, i never had any trouble with the wind. It will look really stupid though.

save the tire? You’re only riding, what?, less than 40 miles between the two races. I’d use the blackwell and training wheel rear.

i suggest you try it out in practise first. seriously. many professionals would have trouble handling a combo like that. a disc in the rear would make it 100x easier to handle.

i have seen people going with a 404 front and open pro rear but no deeper, and even then the handling isn’t great.

YMMV

Seriously? Obviously it’s not ideal, but trash the front wheel? What would make that happen?

yes it will, but according to some people; aero wheels will save 90secs over a 40k (against box rims), with the front wheel being more important. So maybe that 100 will afford you a minute.

cross-wind/crash into another competitor beside you as you pass them/they pass you… something along those lines.

i think unless it’s a fairly small race with broad roads, it’s borderline irresponsible to race with such a setup without prior practise with it on a dual motorway at least.

Thanks. I’ve actually never ridden anything very deep on the front so I didn’t realize the handling could be compromised that dramatically.
