Having read the athlete’s guide, I was a little surprised to see there’s no Saturday athlete’s meeting at IMLP, only one right after the carbo-load dinner on Friday. This is both a little surprising and distressing – I have a bunch of family and friends coming in and have made alternative dinner plans Friday night (as have many other athletes, I imagine). The Friday meeting starts at 7:30, there’s no way I’ll be making it. This is really surprising – I’ve always heard and seen an athlete’s meeting on the Saturday.
So, having done an IM in past and having read the athlete’s guide carefully, am I going to miss anything of substance at the meeting?
Good Question. If anything i’ll eat at my place and then drop by for the meeting. No way i’m going to ask my people to pay 25 bucks for soggy pasta when we can make a delicious meal at the place we rented. suppose i should go to this meeting though…
Yeah, I’ll be doing my usual of eating my own dinner and then hitting the meeting real quick-like. Last year they did have a saturday meeting, but that certainly hasn’t been the norm at past IMs I’ve done. They never say anything new, so I can’t imagine you’d really miss anything.
Stupid question
Do people drive to the athlete dinner/meeting from their hotel? I am staying at the Northwoods Inn and the horse show grounds appear to be a few hilly miles away.
I can’t imagine making the walk on the 23rd for the awards/registration/kona(for others not for me)/rolldown stuff.
You can drive - plenty of parking at the horse grounds! A guy named Lyle will be the first parking person you meet! Be sure to say Hello to him and ask him about the “Wild Turkey” he hit with his SUV. Z
