No race day packet pickup -- what should I do?

Dang I forgot to go to packet pickup tonight for a 5K tomorrow. On their website they say “no race day packet pick-up,” so I guess I’m screwed. Or am I? Has anyone ever been able to finagle a packet on race day when they aren’t supposed to be there? Any ideas?

I’ll run the thing whether I have a bib and chip or not. And yeah I’ll run through the finish line. I’m registered after all. But it sure would suck if I won the race or something and got disqualified because I didn’t have my chip or something.

Get there early, schmooze the RD in the am and hope for the best.

Good Luck!

Just show up early and plead ignorance. You won’t be the only one showing up race day, especially for a 5k. No race day check in for a 5k? That’s obscene!

Thanks. I was able to get my bib and chip after all, although I think I’m out of luck for a t-shirt. They had hundreds of unclaimed numbers there, which surprised me since they emphasized over and over on the web site that THERE WILL BE NO PACKET PICKUP ON RACE MORNING! I’ll have to check the results to see how many DNSes there actually were.

A couple local 5k’s always say no race day pick up but have the packets there. The RD’s simply want less confusion on the morning of the race. One RD who is a friend said he can get more volunteers on Friday evening than he can for 6am on Saturday.
