No Longer for Sale

Dimpled Tubular Zipp 606 wheel-set purchased in 2010, probably has about 2500 kms.

The wheels were sale priced because ZIPP clear coated over the decals to prevent peeling (they only did this one year) and the decals discoloured a little. They are not too bad, just not bright white like the frame. Mechanically perfect! DT Swiss 240 hubs. Whoosh whoosh sound when you’re rolling at speed.

Vittoria Corsa Evo tires glued on. About 500 km on the tires. This is only the second set of tires glued on these wheels.

Valve stems included. No cassette, and no skewers included.

Here is a picture on my old bike:

I thought these would sell quickly. Is it the time of year? I am up for interesting trades as well.

Thanks,
Greg

Is it possible to get the decals off?Did you buy them new?

Trade 2011 Reynolds Strikes???

You are in Canada?

  1. I’m not sure how difficult it would be to get the decals off. I have heard that the decals can be sanded off, then have a clear coat reapplied. In fact, someone even said Zipp offered replacement on the coated rims because of the discoloration. Nonetheless, I doubt Zipp is going to do anything about three year old wheels. Also, I do not want to attempt the sanding/repainting unless I am positive I will keep them for myself.

  2. They were purchased second hand from a triathlete who lived up the street from me. To the best of my knowledge, any statement regarding mileage or usage is totally accurate.

  3. The Reynolds Stikes look awesome! Unfortunately, I only ride tubulars. I spend quite a bit of my free time making fun of people that ride clinchers!

  4. Yup, in Nova Scotia, Canada. No probs to ship to the USA though. I am driving to ME next weekend if that helps anyone…

its really hard to get them off but I know people that just went over them with a brand new set, basically cover them up. you can get the decals from Zipp. gets rid of the discoloration. i have a set of 606’s and those things are stupid fast, just a great wheelset.
