I just made this for the first time tonight. I simply cannot believe how well it turned out. Extremely easy as well, probably a total of about 10 minutes work. I used a cast iron pot and the crust came out absolutely perfect. Beautiful crispy crust and moist inside. I’ve used a bread machine before and this method pretty much makes the machine complete garbage.
The site http://www.breadtopia.com has some really good video tutorials that made it a snap. I can’t wait to try some of the variations.
thanks alot for posting! i have used a bread machine before; it was a high end machine, but didn’t like the teflon pan. this seems much better!
I used to like my bread machine quite a bit.
since I started making the no-knead bread, i haven’t used the machine once. the bread is so good!
does take a bit of advanced planning.
Over the winter, Bittman of the NY Times did a piece on this technique. I tried it a couple of times. I had only limited success with it on the second try…the first was a disaster.
I’m gonna revisit after watching the videos. Thanks for the link!!
