"During a radio interview with conservative commentator John McCaslin, the former House speaker also said Paul is naive about the war on terrorism and Iran’s nuclear program. “This is a guy who basically says, if the United States were only nice, it wouldn’t have had 9/11. He doesn’t want to blame the bad guys. … He dismisses the danger of Iranian nuclear weapon and seems to be indifferent to the idea that Israel could be wiped out. And as I said,** I think the key to his volunteer base is people who want to legalize drugs.” (bold mine)**
And the GOP self destructs into the weasels we knew they were. Do you hear the chanting? It’s getting louder daily…4 more years…4 more years…
Did either of you hear Pauls comments on Iran the other night? He’s a loon just as Newt says. As a matter off act he was much nicer about it than I would have been. Paul never was and never will be electable for several reasons. he has some good ideas but his bad ones are so over the top that there isnt a snowballs chance in hell he could win.
don’t get me wrong, i’m no huge ron paul cheerleader. (in fact, i’m not american, so the whole thing is ultimately moot for me, except insofar as american policy affects everyone else in the world.)
it’s more that gingrich is coming across as more of a cock every time i see him. i definitely think the voters want a steady hand, but i also think they’ll punish that hubris. and ANYONE who’s a republican frontrunner this year has to realize that it’s been a rollercoaster in which everyone and their dog has been a frontrunner so far. . . it’s one thing to get your 15 minutes of fame, but altogether another to be the guy in front when the music stops.
Either Paul or Gingrich would be just as bad. Everyone needs to wake up and see that the Republicans have no one to go up against Obama.
Millions of Americans were willing to give Obama “a shot” because they were thinking “how much worse can we get?” That should be the “wake up” call to Americans.
I don’t see Gingrich or Romney being as bad as Obama on leadership. Nor do I see either one of them usurping the U.S. Constitution or Congress like Obama has done with his Executive Orders, Czars, bailouts, bombing of Libya, etc.
Even with 3+ years in office, Obama is still unqualifed to be POTUS.

File this under things I never knew about Ron Paul:
"Paul served three terms in Congress from 1979 to 1985 (he left to run unsuccessfully for the Senate in 1984) and was elected again in 1996. While he was out of office, in addition to practicing medicine, he published a variety of newsletters, some of which included racist, anti-Israel or anti-gay comments. A 1992 newsletter, for example, said 95% of black men in Washington “are semi-criminal or entirely criminal.”
He now (and earlier, too) says that he didn’t actually write the stuff that was in the “Ron Paul Newsletters” but didn’t want it known at the time they were actually published. In addition, he says he did a bad job of vetting what was going out in his name.

I continue to be amazed that Obama gets criticism for bombing Libya with zero U.S casualties, while we just lived through an administration that is responsible for 4,000 U.S soldiers deaths, starting an unjustified war and sidestepping privacy rules in the name of the war on terror.
The great fear from my perspective is that someone in the GOP would take the country back to those days. I’d rather have a “bad” leader that keeps you out of trumped up wars than a “strong” leader that plays loose with sending young men to their death.
At this point, I don’t see anyone who will challenge Obama for those exact reasons.

Your amazement is due to you’re convieniently forgetting that Congress approved of both wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Not so with Libya. My critcism was about ursurping the US Constitution and/or Congress and in the case of Libya, both.
Oh and, Obama has continued the sidestepping privacy rules in the name of the war on terror. But with approval of Congress.
You should really fear those things where the “balance of power” is being abused. EPA, HHS, DOE, etc.
How many soldiers has Obama sent to Afghanistan? How many people have died from drone strikes? Obama has been quite the neo-conservative when it comes to war.
Obama's Libya actions were ill-advised at the least. Aside from the legality of it, we have yet to see the results of this limited engagement, where there was noone on the ground to stop warehouses being emptied of some of the most deadly weapons that criminals or terrorists could want.

No doubt either would be better leaders than Obama, but Gingrich has said enough, that with the addition of the Obama-sized ego, that I have some trepidation as to what he would be willing to do to get his way.
