I have a bike that is semi permanently attached to a rear wheel stationary trainer. Is there a product out there which would allow me to remove the front wheel and just support the frame?
Just a thought, the front wheel is totally useless as it sits now. It just collects sweat and corrodes and occasionally requires that I add air to it. It also gets in the way a little bit with the rolling computer table in front of it.
I could try to make something, but that sounds like it would be problematic (out of wood) because of the stiffness that would be required to deal with the constant motion and flexing.
I am going to go with a fork mount and then make a box or frame or something to support it. Should take an hour and cost 1/10 of that frame and possibly give me more flexibility in design.
Here’s what I use. It’s very stable (of course I’m slow…)
Made mostly of 3/4" ply and oak scraps. Glued and screwed, with a front axle mount from Performance Bike.
This is exactly what I was thinking. I have the mount on the way and I will work up a similar wood solution (probably not as pretty though). Thanks for the feedback.
Surely make one yourself if you’re handy enough. Wood or metal then a fork tie down to it and there you go… If you need info on it just pm me and I’ll help you out.
Why notuse this and bolt it down to some tubular metal (square bar would be easiest) or some wood? REI-Outlet has them on clearance for $12.73 (pretty cheap compared to the normal price). Here is the link.
