When a politician utters the words “I did not have a relationship with…” alarm bell should begin to ring. Kinda like when a cyclist says he never cheated.
If this Folks guy is just a lying opportunist looking to drive traffic to his blog, why isn’t she suing him for slander?
One thing’s for sure, South Carolina politics is better than daytime TV.
PPP: It’s hard to say at this point what the fallout of an alleged extramarital affair will be for Nikki Haley, but she’ll have to see an incredible drop in her support not to get one of the two runoff spots when South Carolina voters go to the polls two weeks from today. A PPP survey conducted Saturday and Sunday, before the news broke, found Haley with a 20 point lead on the GOP field. She was at 39% with Henry McMaster at 18%, Gresham Barrett at 16%, and Andre Bauer at 13% closely matched for that second place spot.
Haley’s favorables far
outpaced the rest of the field at +34 (47/13). McMaster is next best at
+21 (43/22), followed by Barrett at +10 (28/18), and with Bauer bringing
up the rear by a wide margin at -23 (26/49).
“I have been 100 percent faithful to my husband throughout our 13 years of marriage. This claim against me is categorically and totally false,” Haley, a 38-year-old mother of two, said in a statement. “It is quite simply South Carolina politics at its worst.”

No kidding!
It sounds like South Carolina State. Sen. Jake Knotts’ “raghead” comments last night are even worse than first reported.
Not only did he refer to Republican gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley as a “raghead” during an internet political radio show taped in a bar – Knotts called her a “f—ing raghead,” according to a report from the Free-Times…
I have been 100 percent faithful to my husband throughout our 13 years of marriage.
This claim against me is categorically and totally false
It is quite simply South Carolina politics at its worst.
When people say “absolutely 100%” in front of a claim (ie. OJ) and then add unnecessary adjectives (categorically and totally) you can bet they are lying. The final alert would be anyone who blames things on “politics.”
“When people say ‘absolutely 100%’ in front of a claim (ie. OJ) and then add unnecessary adjectives (categorically and totally) you can bet they are lying.”
Along the same lines, you know they are lying when they say that they are 1000%–or some other mathematically impossible percent–in support of somebody or something. Some of us here are old enough to remember when George McGovern supported Thomas Eagleton “1000%.”
To be fair to Senator Knotts, he is an equal opportunity racist. He called President Obama a raghead too.
This guy’s AWESOME!!!
Knotts says he believed Haley has been set up by a network of Sikhs and was programmed to run for governor of South Carolina by outside influences in foreign countries. He claims she is hiding her religion and he wants the voters to know about it.
“We got a raghead in Washington; we don’t need one in South Carolina,” Knotts said more than once. “She’s a raghead that’s ashamed of her religion trying to hide it behind being Methodist for political reasons.”
“We need a good Christian to be our governor,” he said. “She’s hiding her religion. She ought to be proud of it. I’m proud of my god.”
Knotts says he believes Haley’s father has been sending letters to India saying that Haley is the first Sikh running for high office in America. He says her father walks around Lexington wearing a turban.
“We’re at war over there,” Knotts said.
Asked to clarify, he said he did not mean the United States was at war with India, but was at war with “foreign countries.”
“Foriegn Countries” as opposed to what??? DOMESTIC ones???

But if she merely denied the charge, people would be saying that she was merely making a pro forma denial to hide the fact that she was cheating.
Moral of the story: Once the charge is made, nothing to be done except ride it out and hope those pictures, soiled dresses, text messages, voicemails and, worst of all, scorned lovers stay hidden.
This is one of the ugliest political seasons I have ever seen down here…the worst isn’t even for the gubernatorial race, but rather the treasurers office - good grief, these guys are unbelievable!
Anyway, as far as Nikki Haley is concerned, her opposition is scared to death of her - which tells me that maybe she is the right one for the job! The good ol boys here are scared! This whole “affair” incident is what helped me make up my mind about who to vote for - definately Ms. Haley. I was considering two of the other candidates, but once they began all of the mega-negativity in the campaign, it made Nikki Haley look very attractive (ummmm, did I say “very attractive”:)…
I have never given a fuck about who fucks who when I go into the voting booth, but I know such things are very important to many of the good god fearing christin folk of South Carolina. Call it a public service announcement if you will.
“But if she merely denied the charge, people would be saying that she was merely making a pro forma denial to hide the fact that she was cheating.”
There are ways that you can make your denial very emphatic without further underminding your credibility by making up mathematically impossible percentages. In any case, I was speaking to FJB’s general point, not the Haley case in particular.
