Those with experiences: Do I need to send it back to the ONE authorized service department in the US, or can I have the battery changed at any reputable watch repair place? Surely such a place can change the battery of a water resistant watch without ruinging it, no? Thanks
I took mine to three different places before a watch repair place changed it. They did make sure to point out that it was not an “authorized” repair. Since then, I have worn it scuba diving to 100 feet. Pretty ridiculous, if you ask me.
i did it my self, and it was a pain in the ass. I had to remove the strap to remove the backplate, and it was a pain in the ass to get the strap back on. Nike watches, at least mine, are poorly designed. Changing a battery should be a simple, 2 minute deal. Not, you guessed it, a pain in the ass.
NIke watches are a pain- I will never buy one again.
The first one that I owned filled up with water in the kiddie pool- Nike wouldn’t replace it saying the gasket had been fiddled with at some point- this was two weeks after I had purchased it, in fact they wanted me to pay $8 sh/h to get it bacK or pay them $58 plus the 8 to get it back fixed- it was a $60 watch that I got on sale.
Their customer service was laughing at me instead of trying to help, no way will I buy one again.
I think Nike watches suck, I’d never buy one again. I bought one then have got two as gifts (how is it possible to go through 3 watches that fast?) Since you apparently already have one, I’d send it back if you have anyhopes of it “living”. I changed the battery in my first one, that broke it. I don’t know if it was uncontrolled humidity or what, but it was probably less than a month before the inside of the case started to condense and then all together failed. Second time around (watch 2), I figured I could take it to a legitimate jeweler to do it, first one said “we won’t work on that watch” Second one did it but were crystal clear that it would void the warranty and they weren’t warranty-ing the replacement. That one lasted about a monthor so too. 3rd watch was also a gift and when the battery died (In less than a year) I trashed it and bought a Timex.
