Nike vs timex HRM

Anyone know of any serious problems with these?

I’m looking for a watch that doesnt look too dorky, and will be able to have good running features along with the HRM function.

If you have these, lemme know what you like/dont like
If you dont have em, lemme know why you stayed away

Thanks!

definatly stay away from any type of water with a nike watch. After owning two nike heart rate monitors and having both stop working in water i feel it is my duty to warn slowtwitchers of this waste of money. Your best bet is a timex, or polar.

I would not buy another Nike HRM. I have had a lot of problems with it, and the customer service is lousy. By comparison, the basic Timex non-HRM watch I picked up years ago still works perfectly well without any trouble whatsoever.

I had a Timex 30-lap, 50-meter HRM that leaked and quit about a week after the 1-year warranty was up. I contacted Timex customer service and they informed me that they had problems with the 30-lap models and offered to replace it with a 100-lap, 100-meter model for no upcharge.

Service is great, but don’t waste any time with the 30-lap.

Polar RSD200 (red or black) or RS100 (black or metallic khaki) both are feature and value packed, good looking, small and light, good screen, best running hrm that Polar has ever come out with both in function, style and especially price point. Plus you get a 2 year warrantee and better chest strap then Nike or Timex.

I have been using the Timex Bodylink HRM (100 lap) watch for 2 years now (without the Bodylink). No problem or whatsoever.

Well OK, seems I’ve had completely the opposite experiences with these than anyone else…
Myself, I have a Nike Triax Elite, and can’t say enough good things about it. While I don’t take it scuba diving, I do swim with it. The HRM strap has trouble getting a signal in pools sometimes, but other than that it works fine for me. The foot pod works great, and for me has been more reliable than a GPS (more accurate, less problems). The Nike software is much, much better than anything else I’ve seen, and I’ve seen just about everything. It also works with Macs. I’ve had to replace lost parts with the Nike, and Nike Timing’s phone support was great to me, and my parts arrived within 2 days.
My brother has a Polar 625. Over the summer, we were in a pool - just cooling off. One of the buttons was pressed, and it flooded. It’s off to Polar for warranty service now. Considering it’s a watch marketed towards triathletes, that surprised me. I used to own a low-end Polar (A5 I think) and it worked fine for running, I never used it for anything else.
