Nike Lunar glide + vs Newton stability

So currently running in the Newton stability, love the shoe for short to mid distance. Currently training for a marathon, the newtons are just not cutting it on the long runs, cushioning feels a little harsh. Looking for a lightweight performance trainer with a little bit of stability. Anyone try the Lunar Glide + yet? How does it compare to the Newtowns? Nike’s are also only about $100 so thats a big advantage over the Newtons.

Thanks

Not sure about the Lunar glide - but the lunar racer is my favorite running shoe of all time and I hate Nike in general. For training I prefer to use the ASIC Gel-DS Trainer.

I just got a pair of Glides. The outsole will be more stable and durable than the LunarTrainers, but they are heavier. Plent of forefoot cushion. I can’t comment on the Newtons. Link to First to the Finish, where I got mine for $89.

X2 on Lunar Racer. I train in Newtons but the Lunar Racer is so light and has so much cushioning in the forefoot that you can wear them for a Mary. Go check them out. I bet you’ll love them.

For the price of one pair of Newtons I could get a pair of 5 oz Lunar Racers and the Lunar glider + trainer. Looking forward to trying the shoes out.

Your question was Newton Stability vs. Lunar glide and I assume you needed the added stability for a longer runs. Shoes you are looking at have no stability at all, specially Racers. Even Glider is classified as nautral lightweight trainer. you will not get any more stability than Newton Stability trainers or racers. If you need something more stable with a forefoot running try Mizuno racing flats.

Wave Musha is the new racing flat with stability. I’d recommend this among other racing flats because the heel of th shoe is significantly lower than other models. It may lack of cushion you look for, if that is the case, you better look at the “Performance trainer” category rather than “racing Flats”
Newbalance and Asics are good ones on the cushion/stabilty balance.

I believe the OP is asking for more cushioning than the Newtons, not more stability.

Well, you can find a little review of the Lunarglide with video here but I guess you know already about it. The shoe is lightweight but it’s THE OPPOSITE than the Newtons: VERY cushioned, really springy. As for the support, if you want a lightweight one and just a little support, they could be the right shoes for you… just mind the size of that heel - in a
Nike fashion, they’re really big so could be a shock coming from the Newtons !

Correct I am looking for more cushioning for my long runs. The newtons seem fine until I run around the 2 hour mark when the cushioning seems harsh. The large heel may a be deal breaker. I do over pronate a little and that is why I wear the stability newton.

tired on the Lunar glides last night. Store would not allow me to buy them, something about Nike not releasing stock. It was like buying an Iphone.
They would only let me try on a pair in my size if I ran in some demonstration fun run they where having that night. Running 3 miles in jeans during a Chicago summer evening did not sound like fun.
Anyway quick impressions where that the cushioning felt plush but the heel did feel clunky. Once you get used to the Newtons it is tough to find an alternative, guess thats why they charge $175 a pop. Anyway ordered a pair of lunar glides on line.
