NIKE Lance 4 Titanium Altimeter Watch

Does anybody know anything about these? Is it an over priced Chinese POS or a quality instument? Does anybody know who makes them for Nike?

Description: “Features include a titanium case for lightness and durability, and extremely accurate altimeter, weather-mode barometer, real-time digital compass, and 7 extra-loud alarms for time, altitude, and hydration. Water resistant to 100 meters.”

About $220

I have one that I got a year or so ago (my step-dad got a pass into the Nike employee store and picked up all kinds of stuff).

It’s a very heavy duty watch that has a lot of neat features that I really never used. Altimeter seems to work fine, but they say if you want it to be accurate you have to calibrate it. No big deal, if you are somewhere where you know the elevation, just punch it in. I think Nike suggests you calibrate it before a hike/ride or whatever.

As far as the barometer & stuff I never really paid much attention to it but it seemed to work. Compass seemed to point the right way, don’t know if it’s accurate to the degree but West was west. The alarms and stuff all were fine but I just use a basic alarm to wake myself up; I never tried the hydration alarm or any of that stuff.

If you use the light and alarms a lot it seems to go through the battery pretty quickly. I know because I wore mine off and on until the battery died. I got another watch for a gift so haven’t replaced the battery in the Nike one and haven’t worn it since.

It’s a little more bulky that I like so I’d make you a great deal on one if you’re looking for one and are willing to change the battery. I even still have the box, manual and everything. PM me if you want to talk about it.

If you are looking for the altimeter/compass/barometer function the Vector Suunto is awesome. $199

Have you ever seen Lance wearing one?

I have one and it has one major fault in my opinion. It’s made of metal and when I run or bike with it, it gets cold and transfers that to my wrist. It starts to suck the heat right out of my wrist until it’s almost painful. I have to strap it on over a shirt sleeve if I’m wearing long sleeves.

Now I use my Garmin 305 when I need info.

The one nice thing about the watch is the seven alarms.

I have one and it is a piece of sh1t. Altimeter is never accurate no matter how times it is set. Buy a Suunto unless you just like the looks. PM me if you want to buy it.
