Nike hautacam and fsa orbit x

trek is closing out nike hautacams now. was thinking of getting a pair but since it’s mail order i’m not too sure about the sizing. i use a 43 sidi T-1 which is not snug but not too loose either. read a while back about someone saying a cycling shoe should be snug, unlike a running shoe. so i’m thinking of getting the nikes in 42.5. anybody out there who wears these? any advice?

also been thinking about getting the FSA instead of a chris king (comaprable weights, 10-year warranty also, but half the price. anyone have any feedback?

Kim

I have size 43 Hautacams and T1s. They both fit the same. You can get those Hautacams very snug with the racheting strap.

kim. there is no comparison between a CK and a FSA. forget the warranty - kia has a good warranty, as does benz.

in the words of samuel l. jackson " …same ballpark? they ain’t even the same sport".

mind you, the FSA will hold the front fork in the right place, and turn back and forth OK - if 50 bucks will make a difference in your life enjoy the FSA. but, if you hold to old saying that the joy of quality is remembered long after the joy of saving a few bucks is forgotten there is only one way to go.

thanks for the reply! just two more questions–when you say snug is it snug around the sides of your foot or along the length? do you have that 1/2" of clearance like in running shoes?

thanks again,

Kim

I am not sure how to answer. I am not one of those guys who gets small bike shoes. Maybe I should. The straps grab your foot along the sides. That in turn gives your foot very little play forward and backward. If you are familiar with the T1 fit, this fit is the same, except for the fact that you can get the straps much tighter because of the ratchet. You can adjust the tightness as you ride.

Hope that helps.
