My wife is buying new shoes for my kids for pre-school. Ages are 4 (son) and 2 (daughter). She found Nike Free’s for kids and thought they were really ‘cute’. I told her to hold off until I consulted everybody here. I know as adults we need to be careful with adaptation, etc. I wear a pair myself… but I’m a little concerned that these might cause problems for my kids. Then again, it may be better for them considering they won’t become dependent on the crazy overbuilt shoes that are available. Just didn’t want to get them because they were trendy and end up with problems. Anyway, am I overthinking this? Am I missing something? Opinions please, especially from any docs on the board…would be greatly appreciated.
My 7 year old did his first tri this summer in a pair of green Chuck Taylors! Dead last place because of a 10 minute transition getting wet Chucky T’s laced up, but he thought he was the most styling kid out there!
Kids can run and jump in anything and will be out of them in 4 months anyway, so go with something they like that doesn’t break the bank.
No, they’re $34…still outrageous for something that will only fit for about a week. I guess since I’ve been battling plantar fascitis for a year and a half, I’m a little paranoid when it comes to feet. Thanks for the advice -A
