Nike+: first experiences

Okay, so I finally got my “LACELID” for the Nike+ transmitter and had a chance to try it out today. It actually worked pretty well!

I really like the Nike Moire+ but I needed to get back into my usual Asics Cumulus and Nimbus runners because of the better fit. So I ordered this little lacelid contraption and lo-and-behold it arrived the other day. The lacelid it very inexpensive, you can get 3 for $10 or 8 for $20 and shipping is only $1. So, I figured why not? The lacelid is a pretty simple device that attaches to your laces and the lace tension holds the transmitter in place.

I had my concerns about transmitter not being level. I thought this would cause it to give strange readings. However, the route I ran seemed to be within the +/- 5% range that I usually give the Nike+iPod system. It gave me accurate readings for faster portions of the route and slower portions as well. So, the fact the transmitter isn’t level didn’t seem to affect the quality of the transmissions.

I would have to say that the lacelid is a great addition to anyone wanting to use the Nike+iPod system who doesn’t want to be confined to the range of Nike running shoes. Great system and I’d have to give it a full 2 thumbs up!
