Well, my favorite sport and a good/bad sport to watch on the trainer (motivating, but I get way too into it!). The CBA has been ratified, the lottery is going on as I type with two teams left (Pitt. and Ana.) for the best prospect since Mario Lemieux. 10/5/05 is opening day with all 30 teams in action. Life is good again.
Crosby goes to Pittsburgh. Mario and Sydney start on Marios’ 40th birthday.
No way. Crosby is going to C-bus. Count on it. GAKKK!
Though he and Nash would make a potent 1-2 punch.
-edit-
OOPS!
Missed the part about the lotto going on right now.
C-bus would have been a good place for him to go. The conspiracy theorists have started talking. A team in bad financial straights with a very famous owner gets the player who is supposed to be the Next One…

Ewing to New York in the 21st Century
i google’d to find the lottery list. Pitt is #1, Ducks #2, who’s 3-30?
Hockey for me (Blackhawks) went downhill once JR, The Eagle, and Chelly, left town.
That 6-game series with Col where 4 of the games went into OT is still the best hockey moment of my viewing life.
Now, I don’t have time to sit down and watch the games. But, we do go to Peoria (Riverman) a few times a year.
Just hope my Blues stay in town.

Totally agree. Best series. Of course I’m an Avalanche fan. Although it’s not the same since St. Patrick retired. On my desk I have I have a framed photo of him kissing the cup. People thinks its odd as I live inKona (not a hockey town)…kj
We in Pittsburgh are very excited about Crosby. Maybe this will help the citizens of this city pay to replace the worst venue in professional sports.
Go Pens!
Did you guys hear about the Polish National Hockey team?
They drowned during spring training.

Yeah, Roy kissing the cup is right up there with Chelios in a Red Wings jersey on my “top list of hockey memories”. (<–sarcasm) I can think of a few Avalanche-Red Wings series that were pretty darn entertaining (to say the least).
Favorite hockey moment: The videotape of Probert and Primeau fighting in practice. No one saw that one coming (<-- more sarcasm)
What’s hockey?
Seriously, great sport but the lockout really showed that 99% of the sports public could care less about the sport. I know diehard fans who didn’t really miss it as the months rolled on. The long term prospects aren’t too bright.
Without hockey I would have never found triathlon. I am not going to give you an inspirational story connecting the two. I got hurt playing rugby and hockey and had to quit both on the same day. Hockey was a life-long passion for me. I was at the only all-star game with Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky.
99% of us may not care about hockey, but to be honest, even fewer care about triathlon. I can imagine that there are more hockey fans in Detroit (or even San Diego) than triathlon fans. It is a bit more camera friendly sport.
Anyway, I think it’s great. My parents get the NHL Center Ice package so my mom can watch her Red Wings and Coach’s Corner with Don Cherry while she knits another ten foot long afghan. Hey, it’s her ritual and who am I to judge?
And besides, IT’S BETTER THAN BASEBALL!!!
Of course I’m an Avalanche fan.
Wow and you admit it in public, very impressive.
But they did provide great highlights. The Turtle, The Hey get me out of here look by Roy.
Ahhhh those were the days…
Dave in DETROIT.
I like your mom! Anyone that loves the Wings, coaches corner & Don Cherry has to be OK.
I just worry about how the CBA will impact the Wings - would hate to see Stevie Y go out without a proper farewell.
I’m not afraid to admit my mom knows more about the CBA than I do. She’s been a hockey mom for two sons. She’s spent more time in Ice arenas than most hockey players. She was there the only time I ever played against my brother (it was as an adult). She would root for each of us. It really confused other people why she would root so loud and hard for both teams.
As kids growing up in Detroit, we had season tickets t the Red Wings for years. Season Tickets at the Olympia, and then at this amazing new place called Joe Louis Arena. Old-School!!!
Unfortunately, I gave up on the Red Wings during High school and started following the Quebec Nordiques. Then they moved to Colorado (the coolest state in the union and the home of my alma mater the University of Colorado) long after I finished college and became the Avalanche.
There are lots of fights at Thanksgiving and family gatherings. ![]()
Naw…the best hockey was the 1980 Team USA winning the GOLD!! I had a full leg cast on from a broken leg (couldn’t go to work) and saw EVERY Game!!!
I was 10 in 1970 when Bobby Orr scored that goal. I remember my Dad taking us out for ice cream, and sitting in the pahking lot of this little country farm style ice cream stand 60 miles from Boston, there had to be 4 or 5 car radios with the playoff game blaring. It was exciting shit.
for 3 or 4 years there, the ‘Big , Bad Bruins’ were the only game in town.
The Celtics were slumping, the Red Sox were ok, the Pats were the Patsies, but the Bruins were a cast of characters and a helluva lot of fun to watch.
I think the game lost a lot of personality when they made em put the helmets on.
I know, they need em, but it’s turned into fricking rollerball out there
the players are so big, so fast, you just don’t see the playmaking and sustained action you used to.
it’s like basketball , with nothing but 3s and dunks, and with all the protective equipment they have now, I dont’ know , it’s just become more a brute force game and less and less art.
I miss Johnny Bucyk , and hip checks. Espo parked in the slot for half the game.
Stickhandling , what’s that?
I guess there’s no stopping ‘progress’ , but I’ll never enjoy todays hockey the way I enjoyed it then, anymore than I’ll ever enjoy watching Shaq slam dunk it the way I used to love to watch Kareems hook.
Hey…Tampa Bay has been the CHAMPIONS for 2 years!!! Tampa Bay…winning an NHL Championship…who’d have thought!!
Owned by a Detroiter though.
