NHL 2025-26 Season

ESPN did a 30 for 30 on it.

Don’t think I ever saw.

Four Stanley Cups. I remember the run in 1995 when he won the Conn Smythe. They beat the Flyers, and I remember the ESPN intro of clinching game. They led in with with Van Halen Running with the Devil, and showed his series highlights.

That is what I still see in my head anytime I hear that song.

Go Canes!

Save for the first period of game one this series has been thoroughly dominated by Carolina.

The streak continues

Hey, it’s only been 33 years.

Over 80% of the players were born in the interim

I see what you did there

Considering how the league abandoned Canada long ago, it’s actually fairly impressive that Canadians still largely dominate the sport.

The two teams left have a combined 23 Canadians vs 14 Americans. And we only have 10% of your population.

But, yes, the league has tilted the ice for teams to be successful towards the bigger, wealthier market of the US. That is no secret.

I actually think most ā€œrealā€ Canadian hockey fans don’t really care about it? I don’t. I really dislike alot of the Canadian teams more than some American teams!

Plus as you said a lot of teams have more Canadians on them; some American teams have more Canadians on them than some Canadian teams. Vegas (even though I can’t cheer for them) has 3-4 guys from Manitoba, one from Winnipeg. So if they win the cup is coming here alot.

I was cheering for Carolina vs the Habs. Ehlers was a Jet, so nice to see him in the finals. Jarvis is from Winnipeg. Wife works with his uncle. My son is friends with one of Jarvis’s travelling buddies. The four that have showed up everywhere. Guy I work with is friends with Jarvis’s brother. During the COVID when Jarvis was drafted the league sent every top pick all the different team hats so when they were drafted they could put on the hat. Friends at work is a Sharks fan. Jarvis gave him the Sharks hat he got. So easy to cheer for Carolina. :man_shrugging:

I’ll be cheering for the Canes in the finals (okay, cheering is a strong verb; I will be not unsympathetic to their fortunes), particularly Taylor Hall, who is on course to win the playoff MVP Conn Smythe trophy. Also, Vegas can eat a bag of male appendages.

Yeah I really hope Vegas does not win. But it would be funny for Marner to get a Cup just to see the TO fan base melt down.

Irrespective of nationality makeup of the teams, I’d be most appreciative of your thoughts on Vegas and how they found, and have held onto, their instant success in the league, specifically in the playoffs. Management has to be onto something that others around the league are missing. Firing a coach so late in the season and then having Torts wave his magic wand is an all chips into the pot bet or it isn’t and the GM knew it would work.
Your thoughts?

Good question. As a Kraken fan, I’m eager to see them replicate the success that VGK’s have enjoyed. I’m rooting for Vegas because I’d like to see a recent expansion team win another Cup.

Ass beating so far.

You were saying?

I take that back

The Carolina goals were both soft. The second one was like a perfect pass to the wrong team.

Great game tonight.
